Yeah it is rather bare, but the system is awesome. Also there is space behind it so if you want to add any switches, etc on the sides you can do so.

how is the fit with the pioneer and the dash kit? does it all fit together well?
also, how much was that APSW steering control BT wiring harness you mentioned?

Everything fits real well. It has a nice large screen compared to some nav units. and the Pac module SWI-PS works well too. You just need to program it to send the right commands.
does back-up camera display show on the head unit?

They can set it up, but I had them keep it as the top rear view mirrow because I like to be able to look in the mirror and the camera. I know some people like to use the nav unit as their rear view but I feel like I might miss something.
I am thinking about adding a front camera and using the av1 plug for frontals and the rear is great for parallel parking.
ic.. are they mutually exclusive or can you have both mirror and navi screen?
who did the install and how much, if its not too much to ask?

So what did you add then in addition to the new head unit? In my younger years I was a car audio junkie with after market everything. My premier setup featured Soundstream upper end amps and speakers with an Alpine head unit. Custom built sub box with a pair of 10s.
A new head unit alone won't make for a great system; any new amps, speakers, and subs? Still a plus to the OEM Nav (in addition to the look) is the 15 speakers with sub. OEM systems have come a long way. And it is crazy, because when you swap out OEM speakers they are so light and seemingly low quality, but they make for great sound.

Hopefully Toyota and others catch up with the times. My 2008 EX35 has the "around view monitor". It shows the backup view right next to a bird's eye view on the Nav screen. I don't even look at the straight back view at all, as the top view shows everything around the car very accurately. You can also alternate to a right side view which displays where you are relative to a curb, which can be handy for the missus :driving:

Honestly I wouldn't even want to have the camera show up on my hu. Anyone using the Pioneer Avic F series knows this, I don't know what its like for other hu's, but the start up time is like a minute. Sometime I'm just ready to leave, I don't want to wait for my hu to boot up lol.

Car Stereo warehouse in Anaheim did it. They don't have the best reviews, but I've been using them for strictly installs. It was $105 for the xm receiver, headunit and Pac SWI-PS bluetooth module.
I had already taken the unit off so it did save them some time. The most I was quoted from another shop was 250.
I'm sure you can use a splitter on the video to the rear view mirror. I just don't know where the plug for it is. I would imagine it's up behind the headliner or in a side panel.
good point.. not sure how long mine takes to boot yet.

the boot time for my AVIC-z110bt is like 5-10 sec. about 15 sec maximum. not bad in my opinion

Not even that if the FM radio is on. Just takes a big longer for XM or Ipod.
I'm loving it. Did you get your email on the new update for it to the z120bt? I'm excited!
is this a firmware update for the z110bt?

Yup! The z120 came out not too long ago and only had software changes. Here is the email I got from Pioneer.

thats pretty kick ass. i just picked up a NIB z110BT for 700$.. 200$ for the disk and i scored a new z120bt for 900$.. ::guitar3:

Good deal. You got it cheaper than mine. I'm not sure how the upgrade disk works. I'd figure that you'd use it once and toss it, so I'm sure people would be down for a group buy

I bought the Z120BT last week and got it Friday. It came out to $940 shipped after my 13% dicount thru Microsoft Bing and Paypal cashback discounts.I saw the Demo and played with one at a local audio shop and decided on it over the Kenwood.I took my stock JBL nav out last week and just sold it on Feebay this afternoon for $800.
I was going to put the Pioneer in yesterday but decided I was in over my head with the 2 adapters to use the stock JBL amp with 15 speaker system. I had to buy the TOYO-01 JBL adapter and the AXXESS ASWC steering wheel controller to tie them all together. I got a guy coming over my house from a audio shop to do the install for $75.
According to the peeps over on the pioneer forums ,the Z110BT upgrade to Z120BT is on 2 SD cards. They are protected somehow so they can't be copied. I'm sure the hackers are working on it to get it pirated.
