Ahhh! Can someone help with oxygen sensor part numbers please??

2000 4runner sr5 3.4 4wd auto transmission. NON california emission. Talked to toyota dealer and they gave me part number 89465-80034 for the front sensor and 89465-39855 for the rear. Amazon says both sensors are the same for front and rear which I find hard to believe with two different part numbers from toyota. Rock auto says the same thing. Am I missing something here? I'd like to use the denso o2 sensors but I'm confused bc some people said the plugs were different or that the wires weren't long enough. What to do??

I have always used Find My Part | DENSO Auto Parts and that suggests 234-4162 for your rig in front and rear. That is also the cross for 89465-80034. The rear number crosses to 234-4154 which is for manual transmissions and is identical except for wire length. The 234-4154 is 12.9" long and the 234-4162 is 10.6" long. I suspect the dealer garbled up your VIN and got the wrong result but no guarantee. You could just get the longer 234-4154 and deal with the extra 2.3" of wire if that turns out to be the case or climb under there and see if your current sensors indeed have the same length in front and back and then decide. Me, I'd climb under there with a tape measure. There will not be an issue with the plug, just wire length. Only the A/F sensors used only on Cali's with two cats have different plugs.

As far as I know, the URD and Denso sites are accurate. The confusion has always been because a Cali. has been mis-identified as a Federal or vice versa, but that is not the case here. Both you and the dealer think its a Federal.(The possibility exists that you are BOTH wrong, but I'm not going there. I hope you have confirmed you have only one cat because Ohio might have adopted the Cali. standards in 2000, as did 13 states.Cali'trucks were sold all over the US in 2000.)
