Here's my problem. My A/C had been working fine since I bought the truck and the other day I noticed it was no longer cooling. The compressor was not kicking on. The system has never been low on freon but decided to try adding some, I did, the compressor kicked on. But it still was not cool. I gassed it to about 35 lbs with an over the counter can of freon with one of the cheap gauges. (I don't have a regular set of gauges) Thinking it could be the relay I picked one up and changed it out. I don't hear the clutch kicking on but it is definitely spinning on the front of the compressor. Still I have no cold air BUT the line coming out of the top, drivers side of the condenser in the grill is firecracker hot, yet both lines going thru the firewall are at ambient temperature. Anyone have any ideas ?? I'm a halfway decent backyard mechanic but A/C is not a strong point. The sight glass showed few bubbles. Am I overcharged ? Undercharged ? Any help would be great before I take it to the shop for the big buck. Thanks.
