Air Conditioner saga begins

Been a cool summer here in Atlanta but my trips further south recently revealed that my A/C does not cool as well as it once did, say last year. On the 90-100 deg days it just can't quite make the differential it used to.
The A/C has been perfect and untouched for over 8 years so a minor problem is not a big deal.

Off to the dealer yesterday and they say it was two units low on refrigerant and they charged it up proper.

Now it blows real cold - NICE, for 30 seconds then the air goes warm for about 2 minutes. Blower stays at its setting and blows steady, A/C light stays lit. This is true on all combinations of temp settings and auto/manual.

Picking up the car they said my rear brakes were thin and the brake fluid dirty. I changed both 8 months ago. It's great to take your car in for a specific fix and they take it upon themselves to do a crooked up-sell. I'm betting they did not even pull the wheel to check the brakes, I hope not - don't be taking my car apart please !

Anyway, looks like I'm off to a real A/C repair shop before long. Eager for the follow up customer satisfaction survey call from the dealer.

After they called to tell me the car was ready, I went to the cashier desk. She says my paperwork is with my service adviser, 50 yards down the way...

As if we were now at an impossible problem.

I said again "I'm here for my car" and eventually they solved the problem once they realized I was not going on a paperwork expedition.

Sandy Springs Toyota, used to be great but lots can change in 8 years. Often dealer ownership changes but the name does not, even if named after a person. A few years ago I had several warranty claims under the Toyota extended warranty. They would make me get the warranty service company on the phone for them to get the authorization to pay for the repair. Too hard for them to dial the number I suppose.

I've been having an odd A/C issue of it working only when moving, at idle it blew warm. I read elsewhere here that a relay could be the problem but apparently only if the A/C light was blinking which mine wasn't. Today, 95 degrees again, I wanted it to work all the time so decided to look at those relays, I could hear the compressor rapidly kicking on a off. I pushed the relays down to make sure they were well seated and it solved the problem. Hopefully this "fix" will hold true but figured I mention it.

Just a thought....what about the in cabin air filter. My air conditioner wasnt working the greatest until I discovered from another post on here about this filter and oh my what a difference after changing it. (I am a newbie to taking care of my 4runner)

Yeah I changed it two weeks ago and warned the service writer not to do it again since it's new.

Have you check to see if you have anything blocking the condenser in the front.
