Airbag recall question

MAZATAL: Thanks for info on Right Toyota. Sounds like their tech knows how to do the job correctly. May give them a try.

Anyone have experience with this recall work being done at Big Two Toyota on Gilbert Road, Chandler, Az?

Thanks.

Big Two is where I bought mind. I had mind done at Avondale Toyota. Took them from 7:30 Am till they told me it was done 2:00 PM. Not sue if they took that long or it took a while to get it in. Was not even sure they did it since every thing looks like they way I brought it in. But he gave me papers saying it was done. I am glade this is behind me and now I worry about the driver side Airbag!

Had mine replaced yesterday. Dealer is walking distance to my office. Left it all day, so not sure how long it took I'm pretty sure they didn't remove the dash. I couldn't tell anything was done. I'm relying on their word that they actually did any work on it. It was nice and clean after, so I know they at least cleaned it.

Which dealership?

Had mine completed 2 weeks ago. Dropped it off in the morning, they called me about 3 hours later saying it was done along with my 60k service. As Jetboy mentioned I couldn't tell anything was done. Hope I never find out whether it was or wasn't but at least now the recall replacement is associated with my VIN if I ever trade in or sell.

Good to know yours went well and where you had the work done. How did you pick Avondale dealer?

Wish there was a central collection thread on this forum for good and bad dealer work on this recall.

Thanks

Went in for the Oil change and I was asked if I wanted to do the Airbag. Service manager said it would take and additional 2 hours so it would be 3 hours total. I said I was in a rush, but after a 1/2 hour he came back in and said he could do the airbag and get me out in an hour and he was right. 90 minutes for Airbag and oil. Could not even tell they touched the dash.

what dealership did you go to in NH ? I need it done on my 2016.

Just following up again. Figure you're local enough that I'd prefer to go to wherever you had a good experience.

I had mine done at Mark Miller Toyota. They've always treated me well for other stuff like oil changes and such. I didn't buy my 4Runner from them, but I've never felt like it was a consideration or I wasn't getting the same quality of service as anyone else. I not really a great customer. I've never actually spent a dime there other than for a couple oil changes.

I've also had a good experience with a body repair at Karl Malone Toyota. Good enough that I also took our Lexus there when it was rear ended.

I had the worst repair experience I've ever had at LHM Lexus. Short version is that an employee parked my car outside of the fence by the street and then came back after hours and stripped the interior - when I left it overnight for a warranty repair. Then they tried to fix it with mismatched used interior parts. They had it for months and did a total hack job. Dealing with the manager went downhill from there. He literally thought that a few free movie tickets would "make it right". *******. So as a result the Larry Miller dealers are also on my blacklist forever in all categories. Although they are probably pretty independent in terms of management.

I would guess most Toyota dealers are pretty decent.

Got recall done yesterday on my truck. Took them 2 hours to do the work. They put everything back in place nicely, didn't noticed any new scratches, panels misalignments or squeaks. Just a few fingerprints on dashboard and had to setup radio presets and calibrate compass - that's all. For some reason my cell phone didn't need to be paired again, settings weren't lost. Meadowvale Toyota in Mississauga. I'm relieved : )

Unbelieveable

Arrived at 8:30 - everything seemed normal with the check-in process. No loaner provided, and was quoted 3-4 hours. They clearly stated that a check-in time does not equal start time for their service techs. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they would get to it soon, roughly maybe another 30-45 minutes later.

I took several meetings and worked from the waiting room floor for several hours.

At 2:30 - 6 hours later I had a break in my work day. I went to check and see what the status was with my vehicle. I saw my truck sitting nearby and assumed it was done.

After reviewing the computer information literally nothing had been done and the truck had just been sitting in the same spot for 6 hours only being moved out of the entry bay.

I am beyond ticked off at this point, but needed to reschedule for Friday as going to another dealership would have put be back to square one with waiting to get the airbag replaced which could have been another 3-4 weeks. I'll report back after my experience on Friday, and share the dealership name to avoid if they still jerk me around.

I've already spoken to the service manager via phone, who I'll further the conversation with in person tomorrow.

I have my recall scheduled for this Monday at Toyota in Florence my. Seems pretty straight forward to schedule and get in. That letter we got in the mail seemed very serious.

Just had the airbag recall done yesterday at Baierl Toyota in Cranberry Twp. We did an 8am drop off and they told us around 2pm it would be done since it was a drop off. 11:15 she called and said all done ! SWEET ! You cant tell they did a thing. No marks, scuffs nothing. No rattles, etc. GREAT job BAIERL Toyota. Thats why we bought our new Tundra from them and not the dealer in my back yard.

Just had this done at my local dealer (same that sold me my vehicle). Now, they have always been nothing but great to work with. Head unit crashing, got a new headunit. Tech noticed coil spring cracks on my last tire rotation, ordered and installed new coil springs for me. And they always use hand tools (not impact guns) on my Pro Rims (i.e. zero scratches).

Dropped off for 10:30 AM appt with loaner car waiting. Airbag recall, oil change, and 5k tire rotation. I got the Service Manager to walk with me over to the passenger side of the vehicle and agree that there were ZERO scratches or issues with my dash and trim. Told her that I had heard and seen horror stories on the forums. She said no problem; their airbag technician (female) does a great job and takes pride in her work. Based upon a tip here, I did bring some breakfast for the tech from a nearby restaurant. Though, I was expecting (stereotyping) the tech would be a male. In hindsight, I should have brought something better than a couple greasy sandwiches (according to my wife, lol), but anyways ...

Got the call around 3:45 PM and picked up the car just and hour or so ago. I did a very thorough examination. Best I can tell, the dash and trim still looks pristine and flawless. Phew! Glad to have this one done and in the books. Kudos to Kool Toyota of Grand Rapids, Mich. Top notch stuff.

I had my airbag recall done at City Toyota in Daly City, a good 45 minutes away from me. All the local dealerships were out of stock of the airbags and had me on a waitlist so I decided to go to where I initially purchased my beast.

They had an event running specifically for airbag recalls on a Sunday (most places are only M-S here).

Brought it in at 9AM, done by 10ish. I was expecting a day long wait but they knocked it out in record time. I did make it slightly easier for them by removing the wiring for my dashcam so that might've helped with the time.

If anyone in the Bay Area hasn't gotten this done yet, I strongly recommend City Toyota during their events.

Had my 2015 4RUNNER Trail airbag recall replacement done this morning at Servco Toyota Windward,Kaneohe. Dropped it off at 700am and was finished at 1030 including a safety inspection. Scott in service over they're always takes good care of me. They're team did a good job and you can not even tell they did anything.

Glad to have it done

Changed out airbag...now I have to take it in again

I got the airbag changed out, per the recall, last week and now I have to bring my 4runner back in because I keep hearing a clanging sound every time I go over a bump in the road. It sounds like they went ahead and stacked two coffee mugs in there with the new airbag and the noise is driving me crazy. Almost makes me wish I hadn't taken my previously completely noise-free truck in.
