So my 2000 SR5 has the tundra/LC 8wrap setup on 5100s and so far I've loved every minute of it.
Except now I've got some decent weight in the back, and it's a little soft for my liking.... The total amount of sag isnt very obvious, It looks about level right now, but unloaded it's got almost 3" of rake. In my mind though, it's a little soft over bumps and even when braking, you can definitely feel the weight transfer. The original intent was to load up the back and dolly a car (2200lb car, nothing obnoxious), but seeing how far it's sagged with just the weight in the back has me thinking I wont be dollying the car.
In order to remedy my situation, initially I was thinking just order the bags, stuff them through the side of the coil and hope it solves my problem. However, everything I can find online suggests the use of the cones inside of the OEM springs... Mine are long gone. Considering there's no vertical expansion of the bags, as it relies solely on outward expansion between the coils, I'm unsure if this will be an issue or not.
However, if i'm unable to snake them through the coils, or the lack of cone is going to be a problem, I'll need new springs. Part of me just wants to skip all the horseplay and go directly to this solution, but I rarely tow weight, and I love how my 8 wraps ride otherwise. This is also more expensive and time consuming as I'd have to order them and wait, and the Airlift I can have tomorrow.
Anyone with any experience and/or comments/suggestions?
Thanks!
