AISIN Manual locking hubs

Any Tacoma will have the front ABS spindle that is needed to accommodate the ABS sensor that is currently on my 4Runner spindle?????

Tacaoma's have an ABS and non/ABS spindle. I don't think the ones with ABS had manual hubs though. I bought some ABS 4x4 4runner spindles off eBay for $50 each for my swap.

Below are all the parts I've ordered. If you can find a complete set-up in a junk yard you'll have all of these parts there. If you're going completely new this is a pretty good list. You won't need to brake lines, but I added it to my list since I'm going to replace the lines. I also have LBJ's, and UBJ's on my list that you might not need.

OTC makes nicer tools for sure but I used this cheap version figuring it would be a very rarely used tool:

to do mine. Replaceable roll-pins, which is good though I didn't need to. Make sure the tool is square on the lock ring on you'll be replacing them....and it's not easy to get those stinky ol' rings off or tighten them to spec!

That's the exact tool I used. Put it to use 3x more than I had originally planned for and had to unbend and reinsert one of the pins. Not a fun job, but certainly worth $30 in savings.

I have that tool. The locknut is the easiest part of the job!

So I got one of the spindles completely ready to put on the truck. I just can't get the other Tacoma hub out of the spindle. My mechanic friend broke his professional 2 jaw puller trying to get it off. I'm almost to the point of just buying a new hub from the dealer for $160...

One of mine came out like butter, the other took every bit of a 25 ton press.

So it came out with a 20 ton press. A 10 ton press wouldn't do it. I got it all pressed in and when I tried to put the locknut on at home, I discovered that the threads are smashed together and the hub is essentially ruined

I can get one from Camelback Toyota for $154 total price...

I sent 3 people emails about craigslist Tacomas. I'll see what happens. If I cant get one, I'll order the new one on Monday

It's fixed!!!

My dad ground off two of the threads that were smashed and torqued the nut down! Now, I just need to put everything back on the truck!

Check Amaya.com for some of these part #s. They had the steering guide for $17 and itres for $65 each. Worth a look

Subscribed lol, will this work on all models(ie limited).. Im really not a fan of my setup, would love to have that as my next mod.

This will work on any 3rd gen, though it would be pointless to do on a 2wd truck.

I'm stocking up on parts right now for this swap. I plan on keeping ABS, and building these complete off the vehicle with some extra spindles. Then you'll just have to swap the entire spindle over rather that taking your 4runner apart to work on. You'll have to press everything out of your spindles right now if you plan on keeping ABS. If you don't care about ABS you can find the entire spindle with locking hubs from a Tacoma to swap into your 4runner. It's more work to keep the ABS, but IMO it's worth it.

I'm buying just about everything brand new for this. At least that way I'll know everything is new, and should last a long time. The only thing used that I have are the Aisin Hubs, and 4x4 spindles (w/abs). I've got an entire parts list if anybody wants it?

I just got a set of manual locking hub today!!! It's off a 98 tacoma my buddy going to sas the tacoma and he just gave it to me! So happy can't wait to finish it up! Will post pics up later

Nothing is better when it's free!! FYI 3gen fans, Sas guys don't give a f about these hub it's just trash to them! Find someone who planning on Sas see if you guys can get it for free Hahaha or $100.00
