Am I crazy for thinking about this?

I'd hold off and get your current one paid off, then see how things are looking for you. It will still be worth a decent amount for trade-in value. If you currently don't own a house and are not putting 10+% of your salary away each month I would reconsider getting another vehicle and focus your efforts on "things" that will help improve your net worth each month.

Well think about this.

Your 11 is still pretty "new". Take some time to so the math to figure out what it'll cost you in the long run for the upgrade. 5 grand? 10? 20?!?

Now imagine instead spending that money on upgrades to your current runner that would make it kick the PROs a** as far as performance and looks goes.

I know you can't probably do it all at once, but a piece here and there as you can over the next 2-3 years or whatever (Depends on how nuts you want to go).

So I don't know, I haven't worked out the actual numbers myself, but you should. See where you really stand now and potentially with a new pro and staying but modding your current rig to match (not hard) or best the pro...

Currently have a 2011 SR5 that I still owe ova $15k on, really really want this TRD Pro.

I'll look cool driving this orange beast, but I'll end up with a lot of debt ... but ive been dreaming about this all week.

a paint job, some badges, and a suspension upgrade will get you pretty dang close to a TRDPro, and cost you significantly less...

confused... i guess "it looks cool" isn't something i could hang my financial future on, but if you can i guess its your money to do what you want with...

thx for all the responses, however, I saw a new nautical blue limited on the street this morning and now Im dreaming of getting a Limited :(

Cmon guy, why aren't you happy with the 4runner you have? What mods have you done? I would advice against getting another truck if you owe 15k on yours. Would you sell yours out right and get what you owe or trade it in and loss your ass and role over the balance on the new loan? If the latter you can find yourself in vehicle debt for a very long time, 5-8 years possibly with a payment around 800$. Sounds like you may never be happy with any 4runner you get cause you always want the cleanest one that drives past you. First yours, then the trd pro, now the nautical blue. Be smart and keep yours.

Keep your SR5. Your bound to owe even more if you got the Pro. If upgrading will make you happy why not compromise and do some minor mods to your SR5 as your paying it off. By the time your done it'll probably be more capable than that Pro anyways.

I'll certainly admit though I love the look of the Pros but personally "looks" are the biggest advantage i see in them over other 4Runners with some well thought out mods.

This quote cements that this is a bad idea. Here's an idea for every $1,000 this is going to cost you think about it for 2 days minimum. So if it's going to cost $15,000 then wait 30 days. If you still feel as strongly then move forward. However this is going to cost you and you owe it to yourself to make sure it's right.

Keep the one you have. No sense on going upside down to feel cool.

If you're enticed buy a shiny new orange one now, I'm willing to bet you will be equally enticed to trade in your orange one and go upside down again on a 6th gen in a few years

Keep what you have, put some cash into some upgrades if you need to make it fun for you again, then wait and see what gen 6 brings.

Unless you have some extra cash laying around. In which case, you should immediately pay off the balance on what you have.

Maybe we are getting trolled. I can't tell.

Anyway, I would very strongly advise against buying whatever new, shiny thing you were thinking of buying. I am guessing you might not even have two nickles to rub together. Get your act together and pay off your current vehicle or sell it and buy a cheap $1k - $2k vehicle with cash and get out of debt.

I heard on the Dave Ramsey show that the average car payment is something like $700/month and if you were to invest that money every month over your working lifetime, you would end up with about $5 million. So I hope you really, really like that new shiny thing that depreciates. Yes, even 4Runners depreciate.

Honestly, I have no idea how some folks on this forum afford all the mods for their truck but I would guess a lot of it credit card debt and/or little to no savings.

If you have an ounce of responsibility you won't buy a new truck.

You have a good rig. Keep it.

The TRD PRO is sick, no questions about it, but it seems to me you will find something else to lust after before you have even come close to paying it off.

It's a 4Runner. You already have a 4Runner. Why not wait and see what the next gen brings. Otherwise its a very expensive slight upgrade, which you will be forced to trade in a short time once Toyota brings out the 6th gen with a supercharged V8, full lockers, factory lift, HID headlights and glow in the dark orange paint that is specifically to attract non-crazy hot women.
