America this week, what the hell?

Shouting all lives matter at a BLM even is akin to going to a breast cancer awareness event and shouting all cancer matters.

People with breast cancer don't go out and call for violence against folks with other types of cancer either.... :lalala:

The only mention of BLM in your link is where a Detroit police detective was demoted for calling BLM members "terrorists" online.

You probably didn't read it though, and that's okay - reading is hard.

It's all BLM. Only liars and deniers say otherwise.

Edit. Meant to reply not edit.

One sign is asking for American rights for a race of people. The other is stating one race matters more than others. If you don't get that you probably never will.

I have worked day in and day out in some very "inner city" areas of Tacoma and Lakewood in Washington. There is a distinct difference between your typical protestor and a working class person trying to improve their place in life.

I happened to be working there when Obama was first elected. Most everybody from that area was excited to see what was going to happen. Within the first 2 years they were saying how the racial divide was being broadened in the "name of equality". A lot of my coworkers did not want to speak out to their friends but those who did wet called uncle toms and disgraces to the black community and many other things.

Not because they did any thing wrong. Only because they spoke their opinion about what was happening and what they saw.

They shout down and intimidate All lives matters. So how is that the same thing? Your cancer analogy is poor at best. Having my dad die from
Colon cancer and my mom be a survivor or breast, skin, and lung cancer. I had a front row seat in those rally's.

I actually asked one gal that was helping organize a 3 day breast cancer walk why they only focused on breast cancer and not all cancer. And I got a very heartfelt caring response. She went so far as to look up other support groups, charities, and foundations. Also said if I needed to talk she would be happy to listen. Never once did anyone say this is only about breast. Or this is only about colon. They understand that cancer touches everybody and everybody needs help.

I am in no way stating that you don't know this. Because cancer really does touch almost every family. If you have been through this I feel for you and hope all you family and friends are survivors.

So could you please give a real explanation to your picture? And how it's the same. Or are you just using tactics like talking points?

Fish guy, I appreciate your taking the time to explain your thoughts, however we fundamentally disagree on that cause and meaning behind BLM which simply stifles any productive conversation you and I might have beyond that.

Eta, no offense intended with cancer analogy, I'm unfortunately also intimately familiar.

More BLM incitement of violence.

Ok Ndcent I will agree with you about being on different sides of the issue. You picture has Dr. MLK Jr. He preached content of character not the color of your skin. Do you think he would agree with any of this violence? Would not a picture of Malcom X be better to represent the BLM protests. They are more militant vs. peaceful.

This conversation is getting a bit vague but yes I believe there are some social injustices. However, I DO NOT THINK JOINING A F$#K THE POLICE MOVEMENT IS THE RIGHT ANSWER. In fact it is explosively divisive.

I don't deny that there exists a state of social injustice in some communities in the United States. Personally I believe money is far more of a factor than race. Money is everything but everyone (including liberals) don't want to talk about it. Instead they prefer to talk about race/ethnicity. Anything but class, anything at all.

Woah, to call it a "**** the police" movement is obviously not true. You never addressed my earlier question of where you are getting this information from? While I don't agree that BLM is a **** the police movement, I would certainly agree that a **** the police attitude is not beneficial.

Odd that you say that liberals don't want to talk about class. Wasn't income inequality a huge issue for liberals (and everyone) this election season? I would agree that it is definitely a contributing factor. Why are incomes lower among black people? Is it possibly due to differences in access to education, fewer employment options due to higher incarceration rates? Black history resulting in less inherited wealth and land ownership? hiring bias, etc? What some might call 'systemic' issues.

Maybe it is because I live in San Diego which is very diverse I have a different perspective. Here there are many minorities that have lots of money. Just drive to the mall or the beach and you will see Benz, Lexus, even Bentley's with non white owners - not a few, but lots.

This is obviously anecdotal. No one is claiming there are NO rich black people. But you cant just look at a few anecdotal instances local to you and ignore the stats of what is going on nationally.

The media, especially social media are inflaming people and distorting the facts. It even effected you right? You clearly implied that the LA or MN police officer shooting was murder but the MN shooting occurred off camera and the LA shooting was also vague and his hands weren't visible in the cell video. So you don't know that it was murder at all. Yet you, like the president and many others (I'm guessing with more carelessness than malice) decided based solely on an online narrative that cops are murdering people and that the LA/MN shooting was murder (vs a justified shooting). This is exactly the problem.

First of all, my statement about police murders was based off of the plethora of examples from the last decade, not jus these specific instances. That aside, I, like many others, concluded such not based off of some online narrative but based off of the video itself, our own knowledge and experience dealing with police, basic human behaviour, behavioural clues from watching the people in the video, tone of voice, reading their reactions, the reactions of the crowds surrounding the incident, etc.

You're right that we don't have all the facts, but we never will. We weren't there and the only unbiased source we have to base our decision on IS the video (thanks to the convenient 'dislodging' of the police's body cameras). Its not uncommon in these fast paced, high stress situations for people to remember things, even basic details, incorrectly. Both civilians and police.

not especially. don't be an ass.

put YOURSELF in their shoes. what would you do, in EXACTLY the officers position?

It is standard operating procedure....
don't be doing this SOP yourself,
im still waiting for your answer to my question above.

I don't think calling them terrorists helps anything. My definition of terrorism is a foreign ideology conducting attacks on America. BLM is clearly anti-cop, down the to the core. To support BLM is to support an anti-police movement.

BTW that guy will be released. He was arrested for not walking on the sidewalk.
I do not think they have to be foreign to be considered terrorists. do you not think the people in the those neighborhoods, and those that are being stopped in traffic feel terrorized? especially those at the front of the line. that must be scary as hell.

Labeling BLM as terrorists has wide and far reaching consequences, it will likely cause more challenges to constitutional rights........we have all read our insurance policies after 911, even here in Canada and I can assure you the insurance companies would love the definition of a terrorist to be expanded. To label BLM as a terrorist group will have consequences that I certainly am not comfortable with.
Do I think the group could have had a more politically correct name, yes. AFAIK, "All Lives Matter" would easily serve the same purpose and would likely appeal to a more mainstream American. I am of the opinion that the use of term terrorists should be thought out before being throw out. A drone/robot has now been used on US soil to eliminate a US citizen and yes he was a killer that was racially motivated (a racist more than a terrorist) that give me cause to stop and ponder the long term ramifications of such actions.
He got what he deserved but he was a racist not a terrorist.
he was a murderer.

^Wow. Just wow. Maybe its the "Trump effect" making it now okay to say blatantly racist things to the media.

He seems to completely overlook the significant fact that police killings differ from 'black on black' crime in that police are put into a position of authority to protect the public and enforce the law. So it absolutely IS a much bigger deal when someone who is entrusted with that duty murders a member of the public and breaks the law.

He almost immediately gets to saying that black kids need to learn how to be respectful to police officers, I dont think he even mentioned the need for reform amongst police.
when did that happen?

Don't be a coward, embrace your fear.

To answer your question, they seemed to have pretty darn good control of him from what I could see.

Excellent point. Perhaps if BLM acted more like Martin and less like Malcom they would be building momentum rather than disintegrating.

huh? what fear? what the **** are you talking about?

I asked you a direct question, you deflected.

so, you would have done the exact same thing they did. then what are you going on about? YOU would have shot him also. unless you tell me otherwise, that you would have done something differently, that is what you are saying.
