Another Bilstein 5100 question

That looks Great! I want to do the same to my 2011 Limited. I have the stock 20" wheels (I like them) with 275/55/20. Do you know of anyone with that set up?

Yep! Here’s my 2012 with Bilstein 5100’s at 0.85” lift up front.

Those look like 20" stock tires on a limited. Is that the case? If so what size tires do you have on those rims? I have the same rim with 275/55/20. Not sure how I like that size tire. I will be doing the same lift as you. Bilsteen 1.75" on front with 1" spacer on rear with bilsteen.

They are Michelin LTX M/S2 P275/55R20 111H on stock rims on a Limited.

Questions about Cornfed 1" rear spacer on 2016 Trail...

I am looking to install 5100s all around with fronts set at 1.75" and stock rear coils however, I am reading mixed messages about whether 1" rear spacers are needed to level the vehicle?

Can anyone provide insight into the 1" rear spacer topic? Are they needed to level the vehicle in combination with 5100s? Will I have negative rake (nose high) without the spacers?

Thanks

You will have negative rake if you put the front at 1.75 and no spacers! The rear fenderwell is cut higher than the front fenderwell and at 1.75 the front and rear are dead even. But being that the rear fenderwell is cut higher, it's not actually level, there is reverse rake... and you will be able to see it standing back and looking from the side that the ass end is low!

Exactly correct.I went with the 3/4 cornfed spacer as to me the 1" made the ass end a little to high for my liking.

I am running 1.75in in the front and 1in in the rear and want to know if you are rubbing with those 285s?
I want to get the exact same rim spec of 17x8.5 -10off set as you, but debating on if i should go with 285s or 275.
I also have Spider wheel spacers and does it help with not rubbing?

I'm running 1.75" front and 1" rear. I have scs ray 10 wheels 17x8.5 -10 offset. 285 70 17 wildpeaks, I had to trim front bumper, I'm barely touching the mudflaps. I have jba uca that needs to be installed, and I will have them give me a more positive caster to have better clearance on the mudflaps. With this wheel size, you might not need the wheel spacers unless you want the tires to really stick out.

Thank you, Erbing
So, if i rock 275 I shouldn't have any trouble huh?

You should be safe, but running the 275s does not completely eliminate the risk of rubbing. There is still a chance you may need to do the minor mods like mud flap removal and bumper trim/liner relocation. It also depends on your caster settings. But even so, these mods are very easy.

Since the last time I posted, I've added 1.25" spacers to my 17x8.5 -10 and they require pretty much every wheel fitment-related mod you can do in order to fit. Mud flap removal, aggressive BMC, aggressive bumper cut, and aggressive fender liner relocation. I dont regret it at all, but if you're not willing to go that far then don't add the spacers.

Contemplating Bilstein w/ OME, do you have pics of your setup?

I just had a shop install my 5100s with OME springs front and rear. I went with the 883 in the front and 898 in the rear. They ride awesome on the highway but when i go over bumps the rears seem to be very stiff and make a big thump.

Any recommendations to remedy this? It’s only been on for a day. Was thinking bigger tires cause i still have stocks on (waiting on the tax return). Or any recommendations for a different rear spring. Was thinkings of the 295 but I will lose the rear height.

What is everyone hearing regarding pricing for install?

I just got quoted $350 for the install if I bring the full set to them, and that seems pretty cheap to me. Is it?

^^I had mine done for around $350 including alignment.

I recently had my 5100 installed on all corners and couldn't be happier. I got a .85 lift in the front and zero rear lift with stock springs. The front lift is barely noticeable but for me I could care less about "looks". I do care about ride quality and safety. The 5100's really helped the nose dive on my SR5 and greatly reduced the squishiness and body roll of the stock shocks and struts. I feel more in control and it doesn't drift around like it did before. Even the nose dive is reduced and seems more normal. I also feel like I have more control and feel of the vehicle when I drive it. Even at stop lights it doesn't "creep" like it did before because of the sensitivity and feel I now have.

As for the cost, I was quoted $780 + alignment at my local Toyota dealer for just labor. I found a local shop that did it for about half that and then I brought it into the dealer for just the alignment. So total labor cost was $400 + $120 or $520. Drives like a different vehicle and well worth it to me.

I want to thank the 4Runner community here with everyone's input on the 5100's and different lift options.

Next project is to replace my horrible stock Dunlap tires with BFG ko2's.

Congrats. I originally set mine to .85 and was super happy with everything about it. Just leveled out the truck and rode great. I ultimately went to 2.5/1.5 when I wanted a more lifted look and 33s. Great review!

Did mine in 2014 . Same set up. Same results. 5 1/2 years later zero issues.

Every truck is a little different apparently. I have the 5100's, 1.75" up front and 1" Cornfed spacers on rear. When looking at my rig from the side on a level parked surface, it's almost perfectly level. I would have to think on my 4R, if I didn't have the rear spacers, it would absolutely have negative rake. Others with same setup may say they still have positive rake.

Fronts set at 2.5" with a 1.5" Daystar spacer in the rear and 285/70 KO2s. Tons of space at the bodymount, some space at the mudflap, and they just barely kiss the edge of the front bumper. Still need to put on the Spidertrax so at that point I'll probably have to trim the bumper and lose the mudflaps, but I should still clear the bodymount by quite a bit. I'm surprised with how much rake it still has, if I'm feeling motivated I might swap out the 1.5" Daystars for some 1" Cornfed spacers.

I really like singletrackftw 's suspension setup with 265s. In fact, I'm trying pretty much mirror it, minus the 10mm spacers in the front.

I just bought the 5100s, and I have the OME 2883/2895E in the cart for purchase. I might put a 10mm spacer on the rear driver for the lean.

I had a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help with. With the 2883 springs in the front, I plan to set the 5100s at 0 setting. That would just achieve the approx. 2" lift from the spring, right?

With both the front and rear springs giving approx. 2" of lift, will the rake stay close to stock? I have the 3rd row of seats, and I may haul a little trailer every now and then, so I don't might the rake in the back.

Sorry for all of the questions. I've read 50+ pages of this thread, and figured I'd ask for some help before buying those springs.

Was a FJ owner for over 10 years now a 4runner owner.
I measured my 4runner as I did on my 4runner and the difference between the front and the back is as follows:
LF 29.25 RF 29.50
LR 31.25 RR 31.25
Seems like all these Toyota trucks built in Japan have the driver side lean.
I know the reason is because of the driver on left side, battery and the fuel tank on the same side.
As I did on my FJ I installed 5100 at .85 and added a 1/4" spacer to only the driver side to solve the lean.
Has anyone put in only one spacer on there 4runner as we all FJ owners did?
I am about to get 5100 and set them at .85 and add a 3/8" spacer on the driver side and 1/4" spacer on the passenger side.
By my calculations I will get rid of the lean and get me rake within .5 inch.
Let me know what you think?

You stayed with stock springs?
