Another Bilstein 5100 question

You sound like me & you'd be right; the rear wheel well would look large with a 265 (it looks a little large with a 275). These Toyota's are kind of goofy looking from the rear anyway. People will tell you that there is only a 0.3" difference between 265 & 275, but I put them side by side & there was a noticeable difference in size. HIGHLY recommend the 275!
If you're doing 1.75 up front, I wouldn't do less than a 3/4" spacer. Stick with what others are doing, 1" rear. You could just use the 0.85" front for leveling, that's probably the best overall option.
I've been parking in the driveway these last few days to admire the lift & 2 neighbors asked me why my Toyota looks different. They couldn't tell, but they did notice it looking bigger. Post some pics when you get it done & get to work on a few more rug rats...

Thanks. I will for sure post pics with the progress. I should be getting the wheels and tires next week or so. I might as well order the 5100s now since those are for sure goin in :thumb:

Bilsteins are in 5100's are in. Front at 1.75", stock out back. Perfect.

Just got my 1.75/1" installed. My prelift center hub to fender was 20" in the front. After installing 5100s on 3rd setting with the spring seat in the correct way, I'm measuring 22.5" on the front. Is this normal to get more than 1.75" lift on 3rd setting? I drove about 20 miles before taking the after measurements .

Nice! 5100s all around? or only up front and completely stock in the back? Aslo, what have you noticed with ride quality and appearance when loaded in the back? Thanks for the photo

PS do you have 3rd row seating?

5100's on all 4 corners. Ride is great ! haven't hauled with it yet as we just picked it up today. Had it done while we were in Alaska visiting family. no 3rd row

Stock UCA's for now. There was a slight rub which required trimming a sliver of the bumper and removal of the front mud flaps.

All good now.

How were you able to fit 285s on SR5 wheels? I thought they were only 7" wide and could only put 275s on stock wheels...if I'm wrong then awesome. One less thing to buy!

Looking to pull the trigger on some 5100s and a spacer out back. Question though, is Cornfed really the only quality provider of a 1 inch spacer? Want to do the 1.75 and 1 setup and just wanted to see all options before ordering.

Thanks!

I think most people pick the cornfed because, if I'm not mistaking, they are the only ones on the market that correct the left to right lean.. that's why I'm buying them. There are other quality set ups out there too but tried and true also help people sleep.

Front at 2.5" on stock coils- measured 2.25" lift.
Rear Eibach/Wheelers T13 "1.5" coils and 5100- measured 1" lift.
Rides absolutely amazing.
Front at 22.25"
Rear at 22.75"

Track bar or not needed?

My current trail with kdss is on the 5100 1.75 in front with the one inch rear spacer.. Just curious if adding an aftermarket track bar give me any benefits.. Or just a total waste..

Long time Jeep guy for about 10 years, now I own a 2015 SR5 and I'll never again look back at Chrysler. Trying to get more involved with my vehicle instead of just paying people to do it, or buying them already lifted. I've done a lot of research on the forums concerning lifts, I didn't want to be that guy that expects everyone else to do my answers for me. Also didn't want to make my own thread so hopefully this gets bumped.

Here's what I planned on doing for my lift, keep in mind everything as of right now is stock parts. Get Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners, lift the front to 2.5", and get 1.5" spacers in the rear. With that said here are the questions I couldn't really get clear answers on, can anyone help?

1. Why exactly are the rear shocks non adjustable? Only thing I can think of that's different from the front to rear is that solid axle.
2. I've read two different arguments concerning a 2.5" lift. Some say this requires a new UCA, others have said it's fine, you only need new UCAs once you break 3". Is there an established answer or is it all opinion?
3. From what I understand (Correct me if I'm wrong) The stock front springs will work fine with the 2.5" front lift. But I've read two different arguments for the rear springs. Some are saying the rear stock springs can't handle the 1.5" spacers so it's better to just get new springs that add a 1.5" lift. But others have said the springs will work just fine with a 1.5" spacer. Is there an established answer or is it all opinion?
4. Based on your answer on number 3, what do you recommend for a 1.5" spacer or spring?

Thanks for the help.

The rear shocks aren't coil overs. Hence they don't need to have an adjustable height. They are simply made to allow for longer springs that are located on the axle.

No. You may want to spend it all at once and be done, but some of us are okay with how they handle with less caster. And tire wear doesn't seem to be a problem at 2.5". But bear in mind the higher you go the less caster you can get back without UCA's.

Opinion based on personal observations. I personally would go with longer springs if planning to do a lot of off roading. Street driving and looks will do fine with spacers.

4. Based on your answer on number 3, what do you recommend for a 1.5" spacer or spring?

I have no recommendation. I went with 2" front and rear (Aftermarket springs for both).

So strange. I put mine at 1.75 and ended up measuring 22.25 hub to fender.. I made a thread about it but no one could quite explain why I got more than 1.75 on 3rd setting with OEM coils.
