Another Bilstein 5100 question

Just installed

Bilstein 5100's all around. 1.75" front and cornfed rear 1" spacers. Absolutely love the look and the ride. As many have said much less nose dive. Feels sportier but not uncomfortable at all. Running on 265 BFG KO2's and I think it looks great.

Looks good. I like that setup.

Looks like I've got a leaky front shock so I guess it's time for an upgrade. I looked at Bilstein 4600's for about a second but they're only a few $$$ less than the 5100's.
So now the plan is 5100's set at .085" but I'm curious if anyone has actually installed a 5100 at the lowest setting.

5100's all around. 1.75 upfront with a 1.25 spacer on the rears. like everyone mentioned, what an improvement!

also stock dueler's.
 
Yes sir!....beautiful LQ! Just got the lift and tires on so nothing worse than going to the top of Santa Rosa Mtn and Berdoo Canyon!
 
Anybody getting any long term issues with lifting the front 2.5" with the 5100 or 6112's?
My wife and I both had spacers installed before, mine on my GMC Sierra and her Grand Cherokee. Everything seemed to clunk and bump after a year or so, now this new T4R being her daily driver we don't want to deal with that again.
Was looking at the 6112's, but now likely the 5100's all around instead, still debating.
 
I doubt any problems as the mounting points are just like stock....no spacers on the top. It is just raising the bottom of the coil up. I too, don't trust the ''Top Spacer'' style lifts in the long term. The rear spacer is just a poly spacer for the coil to sit on.:sleepy:
 
As for 5100 set at 2.5 are the measurements exactly 2.5inch ? Is it slightly more or less?

It's exactly 2.47881415926" +/- 0.125 Å.

Yes, I'm being sarcastic, but my question would be: why does it matter? You're not going to notice any meaningful difference in functionality or appearance at less than a half an inch on either side of 2.5", and it will certainly come within that range.

Plus, depending on factors such as how much weight you're carrying, how much gas is in the tank, how much of an incline or slant you're parked on, etc., it's going to vary by a lot more than half an inch.
 
Figure this may help someone else thinking about going for a mild lift with 5100's and trying to decide between .85" and 1.75", and what to do in the rear. This contemplates the Wheeler T13 and OME 2895E rear springs. I didn't do the math for spacers because the only rear spacer I'm planning on using is the OME 10mm trim packer to even out the LF lean. Stock measurements are based on my '14 SR5 4x4, passenger side on level ground. (My LF measured .5" lower than the RF, rears were the same.) This assumes that the resulting lift heights are as advertised, although we know those tolerances can vary.

Front heights, measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender, and from the ground to the frame at the body mount:

Stock - 20.5" | 14"
@.85 - 21.35" | 14.51"
@1.75 - 22.25" | 15.12"
@1.75 + 10mm spacer - 22.75" | 15.46"

Rear height measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender, and from the ground to the frame at the arm mount:

Stock - 22" | 14.5"
Wheeler T13 - 23.5" | 15.49"
OME 2895E - 24" | 15.81"

(Side note on the T13 and 2895E: the T13 is advertised as having a 12% increase over the stock spring rate. The 2895E is advertised as having a 260lb spring rate. This gives the T13 a 195lb rate, and the stock spring a 174lb rate.)

The stock rake is tail-high 1.5" at the fenders, and .5" on the frame. Here's a comparison of what rake you can expect at the fenders and the frame with these different combinations (positive numbers are tail-high, negative numbers are nose high):

stock + stock: 1.5" | .5"
@.85" + stock: .65" | -.01
@1.75" + stock: -.25" | -.62
@1.75" + T13: 1.25" | .37"
@1.75/10mm + T13: .75" | .03"
@1.75 + 2895E: 1.75" | .69"
@1.75/10mm + 2895E: 1.25" | .35"

Again, tolerances vary from truck to truck, YMMV. These numbers are extrapolated, I haven't installed and measured all these combinations. I'd be interested to see how real world measurements stack up to these numbers. That aside, this should give you a decent idea of what to expect with a mild 5100 lift, and on the face of it these numbers appear to agree with the conventional wisdom (.85 is fine with stock rear springs if you're not going to be hauling heavy loads, above that you'll want to raise the rear, or you'll be nose-high). Of these, the most level are the .85 and stock rear springs, or 1.75 with a 10mm spacer up front and the T13s out back.
 
[MENTION=147757]GearJunkie88[/MENTION] Here is my rig with about 250lbs in/on it. This is before I added the Shrockworks sliders but they didnt make any difference to the ride height.
This is 5100's all around, set at 1.75 in front on stock coils, and wheeler t13 coils in the back.

This is the exact setup I'm currently considering for mine. How much lift did you get from the T13 springs? Any additional photos?
 
Got my 5100s on this week. Decided to go 1.75 with stock springs up front and T13s with one OME 10mm spacer on the driver's side. Whoever made the call at Toyota to spec the 4R with those charmin ultra-soft shocks should really question their decision making ability. Ride and handling are vastly improved over stock, the hype is real.

My before measurements were 20 1/2 RF, 20 LF, 22 RR & LR. After measurements are 22 1/2 RF, 22 3/8 LF, 23.5 RR & LR. The alignment shop came out to .1 deg camber on both sides with 2.2 deg caster on the left and 2.3 on the right. I'd like to see a little more caster, so I'll take it back and get it tweaked after everything's had a chance to settle in a couple weeks.
