Another Bilstein 5100 question

Seems like the common setting is either .85 or 1.75 and a rear spacer. Does the 1” spacer leave some of the rake? What about a 3/4 spacer?

The 1” spacer will give you a nearly perfect level look with the slightest of rake. If you actually want visual rake, you can go lower on the spacer but I’ve never seen a 3/4 spacer...I’ve also never searched for one either.

3/4 is one of the options Cornfed has on their site. The on off road shop around my area also recommended that but I wasn’t sure if that would create reverse rake.

I did the 1". Mine sits perfect with a tiny rake even with my usual couple hundred pounds of literature and tools and gear in the back.

Edit: mine is a front spacer only. Reading again I see you may be talking about the rear spacer with a 1.5" clip in front so disregard if so.

Finally got around to installing my Bilsteins 5100s all around.

Fronts set to 1.75”. Rear has 1” Cornfed spacers.

Love the stance and it suits my needs as this is my daily driver that will only see light trails (no rock crawling).

Hopefully this helps people on the fence about what setting to use or how it’ll look.

Great looking set-up!

Are these 275s?

Any chance you could share more pics?

Alright guys I’m probably beating a dead horse so I’m sorry but it is decision time for me and I’ve read all pages of this. Currently getting the bilsteins all around and will be set at 1.75 with a 1” cornfed spacer in the rear for my 2020 ORP with kdss.

I have the trd black wheels. Currently have on order the falken wildpeaks 265s which are LTs.

Should I go up to 285s? Or maybe switch to ko2s? From the sounds of it there will likely be rubbing is that correct? Will the 265s look out of place?

*side note, there are some seriously good looking 4runners in this thread!

The AT3W runs larger for its size than other tires so you will have rubbing in a 285. It may just require heating the fender liners or may require cutting them. Each rig ends up being slightly different.

265s won’t look out of place with the Falkens since they run larger. You could split the different with a 275/70-17 and probably be fine with best of both worlds. 285s are gonna be pretty stuffed under there with not going all the way up and you may not get full suspension articulation without having serious rubbing issues that could damage the tire.

Having ran both the KO2 and Falken AT3W (also Nitto Ridge Grappler) I can tell you the Falken is the hands-down winner in all around performance.

Thank you very much for this. It’s just the kind of info I was looking for!

My pleasure. I’ve seen a lot of rigs look surprisingly good even at the 2.5-1.5 with 265s. I went 285 at that setting and still had to trim my liners with the AT3W (currently sitting with Falken MT/01).

Don’t forget to get your alignment done after doing this lift. Start your tires off right. Post pics when she’s done and enjoy! These 5100s have proven to be the best value for the money spent I’ve had so far on my truck. 4 years later, serious wheeling and lots of towing and they’re still going strong.

I will definitely be getting it an alignment within the same day as the lift.

Curious, what rating were your AT3W? It looks like the LT/E rated ones were what was ordered for me (I didn’t realize the shop ordered that at first). Probably more than I need but willing to give it a shot if it’s not going to weigh or bog me down too much. Already prepared for a slight mpg hit with the lift and aggressive tires.

You can check out the AT3W thread to see detailed info on my recent fiasco. They were standard load which I wouldn’t do again because of bad wear and cupping.

E is a lot for our rigs. I’d personally get LR-C. It’s the perfect balance of ruggedness and comfort for our rigs.

Unfortunately I think I am stuff with them now. When I bought my rig I was able to work the dealership into throwing tires in and this (the E) was the only load rating they had for the tires. Thus fingers crossed they workout

A lot of people run E no problem. They’re just really stiff and that results in some complaints. Might have to run a lower pressure to make them to your liking. You’ll be fine.

I scrapped the spacers, didn't preload the 5100s, and instead went with a lift via Dobinsons. I'm also now running 285/70 Ridge Grapplers vs the 275/70 KO2 in the pic. I've got an IG with plenty of pictures - shoot me a PM.

For anyone who has gone with the 5100's and Cornfed spacers in the rear, have any of you encountered a settling in the back where after a while it lowered about ~.5"? I noticed this in mine the other day. It's gone down since first having the components installed earlier this year. Where it was nice and level before, it's now got reverse rake.

I have almost the same setup as you and do not have a reverse rake.

So, read the last 30 pages or so and...

Newbie here! First, what an amazing resource this place is. Just, astounding.

As for the Bilstein thread, this is what I plan on going with, for now, based on all the amazing posts in here, on my 18 TRD Off Road:

FRONT - B8 5100 (Ride Height Adjustable) - Part Number: 24-196499
REAR - B8 5100 - Part Number: 33-187174

Settings: 1.75 front, 1" spacer in the rear (Daystar?)

Stock springs for now

TRD Wheels 17X7
BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 - Size: LT265/70R17

I know it all will fit without rubbing, BUT - anyone with this setup run a slightly larger tire?

You guys rock. :dancin:

A lot of guys with this setup run either a 275/70 or a 285/70-17. Those are the most common and popular upsizes for tires. Each rig is slightly different so some may run while others may not. You’ll most definitely have to heat and push your fender liners in. I’d say you can easily fit a 275/70 with minimal effort and possible a 285/70 (33”) with some heating or trimming. It all depends on tire too as some run larger than others.
