Another Full-Length Roof Rack Option -PrinSu

Also ordered a bunch of stainless eye nuts, nylon washers, stainless bolts and nuts to build in a bunch of tie downs and mounts for stuff, ended up being around $40 for 10 ss rings compared to $50 for 10 non-stainless from prinsu. I need to figure out adding treds, hilift, awning, rotopax (just bolted to load panel), plano case, and just general tie down rings. I see that no one really uses actual T nuts in these tracks, or any other tslot rack for that matter, and just uses carriage or 8mm hex head bolts, any idea why?

fyi, the eyelets (ss rings) are cheaper on amazon, and the rest of the stuff you can find at lowes/home depot. I use, m6 carriage bolts, and m6 eyelets. M6 barely fits, and m8 won't fit at all. Just trying to save you some dough. Most manufactures, use those t slot nuts, and I cant seem to find one that fits, so I just stuck to carriage bolts. These days I buy whatever that has mounting holes, throw away the fasteners, and then go to home depot to replace all the fasteners...

Awning brackets and tred mounts, I used rhino products and it fits fine.

Shoot, I cancelled what of the M8 stuff I could but I guess just more hardware for the hardware bin. Anyway, on to the install:

Good: All parts included, all hardware included (a couple spare washers but don't drop a bolt!)
Wind fairing fits fine on normal center slot
Easy to assemble, solid rack

Bad/tweaks: Powder coating all along one edge of both side rails looks like sh*t! Anyone else get crap like this on theirs? Look at all those dingleberries!
Rear most cross bar needed to be cheated forward to clear the rear spoiler with hatch open
Large goofy fender washers provided for mounting to roof are too big for front mounts and bend like tacos, also look bad on all black rack, swapped for my own smaller ss washers
All 8 spacers were 1" tall, I think 7/8" front and 3/4" rear would sit more flush
No idea how to install load panel

I also ran a washer on both front spacers. fairing wasn't hitting the roof, i just wanted the rack to sit on more surface area cause i drilled the hole a touch off center.op2:

the fairing is in the middle setting, lowest, it hits the roof. CBI did send about 10 extra spacers, i could probably use the taller ones and the fairing would clear at the lowest setting.

I ended up ordering my cross bars in bare aluminum (mostly because I'm cheap). That said though, I feel like a black rear crossbar would tie everything together nicely.

4th gen guys don't have to drill! So install was about 2 hours, then 1/2 hour of tweaking rear crossbar, wind deflector, and mounting feet washers. Anyone have any mounting spacers shorter than 1" they want to share? I could use 4x 3/4" and 4x 7/8" tall. All they gave me was 1".

CBI also responded that they agreed the powdercoat was subpar so we're working to resolve that issue, hopefully no one else gets stuff that looks like mine.

For load panel install I was told to 1.) install plastic edge guard onto long sides of load panel 2.) slide load panel and edge guard assembly into t-slot. This may be easiest with two cross bars removed, then install 2 cross bars + load panel assembly back into rack as a unit.

I can check, like i mentioned earlier, CBI sent me like 30 spacers lol. you could grind them down as well. clamp it down decently and either use a cut off wheel to cut it or a flap disk to grind it down slowly. Vice grips in one hand, grinder in the other works well too. If the cut off blade blows up in your face don't blame me tho:guitar3::flipoff:

Lol yeah I was considering this method, but turning them down would be cleaner. Even easier if cbi or someone will send me some already at the right heights. I appreciate you checking if you've got what I need. Obviously willing to PayPal shipping and/or a beer.

I've got 4 7/8 spacers. the rest are 1". lmk if you want them.

Gentlemen:

I am moving to an RTT for my Prinsu rack. I got a smokin' deal on a CVT Mt. St. Helens hard shell, however:

I will not be able to use my Prinsu brand, home modified awning brackets. I cut them down so that the awning can be mounted low with no brackets protruding above it. I will be selling them soon if anyone is interested, PM me.



I will also no longer be able to run my hi-lift mount on the side of the rack. They are home made based on the ARB awning brackets. It fits great but I wont be using them any more either. If anyone is interested, same deal, PM me please.

Placement on rack. It was great here. 22mm bolts hold it on.





I also have a Plano dual gun "field locker" box that I ran on the rack, its drilled for prinsu rack spacing and really not good for a whole lot else now that its been drilled out. The case is super robust and I've taken it all over Texas with no issues. It held my recovery gear and tools as well as camp chairs. Very handy and lockable and sturdy, it never warped in the sun nor faded. PM if youre interested.

Contact CBI with pictures, they told me it wasn't just me that got it that way and they are working to resolve the issue. See what they can do for you.
