Another Full-Length Roof Rack Option -PrinSu

I have been looking at these for awhile now. Is there anyone who can give me the length of the 7/8 and full racks? I couldn't find anything listed on the website.

7/8 rack
From the back of the rear crossbar to the front of your front crossbar ( not including the bar that your fairing is on because it sticks up above the rack about a half inch) is 6 foot even. Total rack length front to back ( back of the rack to the front of the fairing) is 78 inches.

I'm happy to report that I've had no issues with my current setup using the rubber feet.

I've had a Thule Roof Box up there with snowboard/ski gear inside and didn't experience any issues.

Those Camaro hood adjustment bolts look like money. That said, the way I have mine setup is doing the job.

If I was mounting a heavy roof top tent up there I'd probably bite the bullet and drill the roof for the extra peace of mind but for my uses the rubber feet are adequate.

I may have to go with this route until I have the need to secure anything heavy up front.

Did you have to trim or use spacers to get the height of the rubber feet match the height of the mounting spacers from Prinsu? Also, do the feet rest on the roof (black plastic/rubber piece removed) or on top of the plastic/rubber piece?

The rubber feet I ordered were a bit tall so I used my dremel to trim them down a bit. I don't remember exactly how much I took off but I made sure to leave enough material there so that when I tightened the 8 other roof rack bolts it applied downward pressure to the rubber feet and pushed them into the roof. As it is now they're pressed firmly into the rubber strip that sits in the roof channel. The rubber strip has deformed a little bit but it's nothing that concerns me.

I'm pretty happy with the way everything sits and it's still extremely sturdy. It feels like one solid piece. Rocking my 4runner from side to side using only the rack is no problem.

I say go for it and if the need arises in the future you always have the option to drill.

I used rubber feet and trimmed them, it's extremely solid and I plan to leave it this way until necessity dictates otherwise. So far little or no wind noise and around a 2mpg hit on mileage especially at highway speeds. The crossbars really catch the air when behind a semi and you can feel the turbulence. A cover for long highway trips would make a huge difference.

It does look OEM. Nice work. Looks better then the Prinsu spacers.

Quick update with my rack. Prinsu was nice enough to send out a replacement fairing(shorter) and new spacers after Zach stopped responding. Pretty cool of them.

Nope didn't punch the strip or anything. There's metal running through it and I didn't want to muck about with it. The rubber foot is simply resting on it.

Pulled my Gobi and installed the Prinsu. Two weeks from order to delivery. Powder coating was perfect. Great product. Very quiet and much better MPG hwy the Gobi.

I just installed mine this weekend using some rubber bumpers for the front. My question is that most people seem to have gotten two sizes for spacers but I only got one size. Is that normal? I used 2 extra fender washers for the middle spacers and just torqued the bolts down to close the gap. Feels solid but would prefer to not have had to use extra washers.

Related question. If I wanted to uninstall the rack to use new spacers what's the procedure for removing the silicone?

I think they might have redesigned those center mounting points. I saw a video of the prinsu rack install, came with different size spacers for the center supports, but after installing mine, it wouldn't make sense to have taller spacers in the middle. The 10 spacers of the same size, worked out.

Also drilling the two front holes was a breeze. I contemplated drilling the two holes for about 20 minutes before diving right into it lol. My tip is to use a step bit to the 3/8s mark, makes things so much easier and quick! Took less than 30 mins to do the install!

Yup. The fairing has 10 holes for bolting onto the crossbar, 5 on top and 5 on the bottom. Instead of bolting all 10 bolts into the two slots on the crossbar. I bolted the bottom 5 holes only to the top slot of the crossbar. This gives the moonroof clearance to open. Before I had all 10 holes bolted onto the two slots on the crossbar, this made the fairing too low pressing down on the rubber seal on the moonroof. But now the top 5 holes on the fairing is left open so Prinsu will send me some black plugs to cover them up. I will take some close up shots later. I do think I may be the first to have ordered the 3/4 rack for the 5th gen with the moonroof. The first fitted one was for a member on here who had the TRD Pro which lacked the moonroof so this method wouldn't apply to him.

The two front mounting brackets were way too low for my roof line. When I tighten them down the mounts would contact the rib of the roof line possibly damaging it if I tighten too snugly. I used SS washers to give the roof rib a bit more clearance. I think this varies from rack to rack as they are cut and bent. The demo 5th gen on his installation guide needed washers as well.

Seattle I used this trick last night and it is working well...now fully functional moon roof again...thanks.

I have noticed that the fairing is driving air into/through the moon roof weather stripping...has anyone had this issue? Have you guys run this rack w/o the fairing? I'm thinking that will send the air beyond the moon roof..but unsure impact on drag.

Thoughts Post Install - Prinsu

Just installed my full length rack over the weekend.

The install was just fine. Not the best guided directions so that any noob that's never used a tool can do it, but if you've got some common sense and tool-ability to your brain, you'll be fine. Agree, the step bit is the way to go, just be careful and err on the side of too small, not over drilled. Because the if the push nuts don't fit super tight (hammer tap-in) then you risk having them move when you're trying to wrench down and clamp on the inside.

I have a Yakima Skybox 16 that I used to use with factory rails and Yakima xbars. With all that height and space, popping that Skybox on and off my 2013 Limited was a breeze! However, I couldn't get it far enough forward so the lift gate would always hit the Skybox. Rather annoying in a few different ways.

Post install, Skybox installed, no rubbing at lift gate... I realized that the very low profile of the Prinsu, which I really love from a design and aesthetic standpoint, does NOT bode well for easily installing and removing the Skybox. Nor do you have the option of placing it anywhere you want, it has to go to the side. Which for me is fine, but I would like the ability to move it to the middle, and that ain't happenin'.

2nd issue was installing my Road Shower 4. Again, the low profile is NOT friendly for mounting/screwing/wrenching devices onto the rack. It's super tight up under there. Getting a wrench of any kind up under there to evenly/properly tighten down was slow and tedious. Maybe I should remove the xbars, install the (insert whatever here) and then load back up. But that is not always the easiest or best thing to do when you have a big Skybox on the other side.

Again, loving the rack, there is so much space up there. Install was super easy, it's mega configurable, it's super light compared to way more expensive steel models. I'm just a little challenged on finding the right solution for easy-on - easy-off for attachments like the Yakima or RS.

Again, it's not a ding, just a point of reference. Also.. They totally under committed and way over delivered on my recent purchase. Was her in less than 2 weeks after delivery, peak season. Well done folks! Nice Decks too!

Finally got time to install mine over the weekend after sitting in the garage for about 3 months. Install was simple even for 1 person.

One concern I have is that the stock bolts for the back and middle mounts doesn't seem long enough. With the provided spacer the bolt only has less than an inch of thread that comes out of it and the nut is recessed about half an inch. This worries me as I plan to put a heavy tent up there. I will most likely just replace with a longer bolt once I get the tent.

Speaking of tent, Prinsu does not specify the capacity of the rack, does anyone know if this rack can take 150 lbs tent (CVT Mt. Rainier) plus approx. 350 lbs worth of occupants?
