Another Full-Length Roof Rack Option -PrinSu

I bought an L-shaped piece of aluminum from the hardware store. I cut it to my desired length and then drilled holes for the maxtrax pins and for bolts to go into the side of the crossbar. It was only a couple of bucks and it’s been working great.

Excellent idea and a lot easier than finding a reduced thread bolt for the pins themselves (if that even exists). I'll have to pick up some of this aluminum in the morning when I hit the hardware store for other needed Prinsu improvement items. Thanks for the reply!!!
I got the full length rack mounted this weekend. I took some ideas from a few people on here, such as heat shrink over the spacers, rubber washers under the spacers, and the no-drill option for the front feet. Aside from waiting for the rear 1" crossbar to arrive she's done.
I still need to order a universal mount for the rotopax fuel can and mill out the crossbar tracks for easy access to mount hardware without removing the crossbar from the side rail. I'll order a 40" Baja Designs S8 light bar for the rack when funds allow.
I made my own homemade Maxtrax mounts, not bad for $6 in hardware. I cross-drilled the pins for use with luggage locks in hopes of possibly keeping the quick grab thief at bay.

my rack showed up last week. got time to install it today.
super easy. took two of us just a little over an hour or so.
I bought the bumpstops for the camaro but ended up just drilling the holes and installing the rack properly.
the last thing i wanted was vibrations or movement with a full load up there
it was not nearly as 'scary' drilling the holes as i thought it would be and we siliconed up all the roof main bolts significantly.
this rack is awesome! im glad i went this route!

It was 102 degrees today I think. Felt like 110 in the garage. I haven’t cleaned it or the roof off from the old rack but whatever.
This is a great looking rack I think.
I just ordered c4 fabrication rear ladder for the runner so that will be nice

Drilling was super easy too. Put two layers of blue painters tape down.
Test fit the rack up top and made my two marks
Started with a 1/4 inch drill bit and used a long socket lug to make sure I didn’t go too far in once I made it thru the metal. Then used the 3/8 bit. Cleaned up the hole and removed the tape.
Lots of silicon in and around the hole then put the rivnut in and secured it with an impact drill. Super clean and easy
Then I just filled up the installed rivnut with silicon before bolting the rack into place. I would be very surprised if it leaks

Did Toyota change the bolts used for the stock rack? My stock bolts from my 2018 are much larger in diameter than the bolts that came with my rack.

did you remove the stock bolt and check the bolt that came with the rack? I think the bolt head is just bigger on the stock one, the shank/threads are the same though. IIRC thats how mine was.

Stock bolt is on the bottom, bolt they sent me is on the top. Threads are different too.

Installed my rack yesterday and the bolts fit perfectly i have a 2018 also

They sent you the wrong hardware. They're pretty bad about that. It's a common complaint about CBI.

Good to know. Did you happen to compare the length of the bolts they sent you to the stock bolts? I'm planning to just re-use mine I think.

the one on your picture is for the 2 front bolts if you have full length rack, the bolts that I got seemed longer though

I only got the 3/4 and they sent me 8 of the smaller bolts. I re-used my bolts without issue but I would be happier if they were maybe 3/8" longer

Same hardware issue here. They also sent me 1 silver crossbar instead of all black crossbars. They told me the silver one is for mounting the wind deflector, but my OCD will drive me crazy having 1 silver crossbar up there. Guess i'll just paint it.
Happy overall, but they dont seem worried about the small stuff that take products from good to great.

Did you guys order from the Prinsu site or CBI? I'm confused as to if the 7/8 comes powdercoated or not. On the Prinsu site it says yes, the CBI listing says it comes bare aluminum for the exact same price. I have an email to them, but havent heard anything back...
