Antenna Motor, NO POWER?

Hey, so I searched and searched and have found nothing on this;

I put in a new power antenna unit (whole new unit, not just the antenna or just the gears but the whole thing is new) in my '99 4Runner. Everything went quite smoothly except that even though all wires appear to be connected properly, there is no motor action.

I found info on replacing motor gears, and strange motor noises, etc.. I have not found info on reasons why there is no electric current to the motor. Motor just doesn't turn on ever. I followed the motor wires and things look to be connected...I may have to take a second look tho..

Any ideas?! Thank you

Check to see if there's power at the plug and also at the big tan relay behind the radio.

Okay I appreciate the fast responses. It was an OEM unit off ebay so not brand spankin new but in New condition from a very reputable seller. Will check wires.

Would you guys say spark the wires(touch em together) or is there a safer, handy trick? The radio works but bad reception since motor has no power, no raised antenna. Also I wish I new the best way to test the motor. I'm a little concerned if I attach any battery to it it may fry it or strip gears, or leave me with a half raised antenna..thanks

Don't touch the wires together! That'll blow a fuse. You need a multimeter or test light. You can get them pretty cheap at any hardware/ automotive type store.

Follow up;

Ran tests and confirmed no power running thru wires from radio to antenna motor. Everything is hooked up right as far as I can tell. Found blue and orange wires behind radio (plus all the other colors) and following them they all feed back into black coated wire bundle thru the firewall into R side engine bay then out into right fenderwell where antenna is housed. Everything looks too normal and tucked away for me to know what to do/where to start..

Maybe it's a fuze?

I wouldn't mind adding a toggle switch mod for up/down if I can get this thing fixed.

Not sure if I'm overlooking something. Truck has aftermarket Panasonic Mixtrax X2600UI radio connected to a OEM power antenna.. Would think it supports a typical function such as power antenna - but maybe not?

If your using the right wire from the stereo to power up the antenna, and your not getting voltage from it, then I would assume the stereo is bad. Is it in the tuner mode when your turning on the stereo and not in the cd or aux setting, these settings would usually retract they antenna.

Usually, on AM stereos the blue or blue with white stripe is the signal wire for external components such as an antennae or amp. Should be 12VDC coming from it when the stereo is on. Some stereo have a separate wire for amps, but every unit I've seen has a blue or blue/white wire for the antennae. Goes to the antennae relay which controls the power antennae. Here's the OEM diagram which may help.

Every antenna wire I have seen has also been blue blue/white. Google search the make and model of your stereo and you should find an online manual with the wiring diagram.
