ANTMAN'S Thread

Nice. Nominate for the 2013 refresh.

I wonder in the years you've been married, how many times your wife has done rolleyes?

wow, I'm speechless - amazing work. Wish I could do that too : )
How did you route the cable by the way?

She is actually pretty understanding most of the time! I let her know from day 1- I NEED to keep my mind/hands busy with some kind of project or I go nuts.

Kids were driving her nuts today though.

How did you route the cable by the way?

I would have taken pics- but damn hurricane outside and all :wow2:

I just routed it:

Up from the OBDII plug
- behind the dash panel that has the mirror switch
- pulled out the door weatherstrip a bit and tucked the cable behind it
- pulled the A-pillar cover off and routed the wire behind the airbag
- then tucked it into the front edge of the headliner and
- into the console opening.

interesting, I might go the same route but get myself mirror holder from amazon. although I like your design better : )

I really need to get a dremel tool...just can't tell the wife that its for cutting holes in my 4runner! HAHA...awesome job ant. We are not worthy...well at least I am not.

That is really quite impressive work with the scan gauge, I can say I would have never thought to put it there.

Also very admirable that you are giving away your lights.

I wonder if I could use this for my HAM face plate? I wish you were closer so you could help me mod my truck.

I'm sure you could put the faceplate there. I could give you all the gritty details if you decide to mount it there.

There are a TON of small details that I left out from the install. Re-installing the sunglass door to the compartment is...fun. That little spring is a bas****, but I figured out the trick after about 20 mins!

Go for it!

Flush mount Scanguage

Look what I got as a B-day present:

Very pleased with the outcome, but it required a ton of "Antman engineering!"

Happy Modding!

That's f****n SWEET!! :bigok: :bravo: Guess I know what I'm gonna be doing to wait out Sandy :boink:

How's the screw work to open all the way? Just a little squeeze of the holder?

Thanks!

Yup- just push in a little bit on the plastic and push the back of the panel. I tried to come up with a more elegant solution but this works really well so I stuck with it. You can adjust the screw in or out to fine tune.

What are you planning on using it for "specifically"? Based on what I read about it, the stock navigation system has similar features to the scan gauge but interested to know what features you wanted from it.
