:cheers:antman, you are awesome. save all of us the headache of going through the wire diagrams piecing it together. i work at lexus, fully capable of figuring it out and have access to all the wiring diagrams but you break everything down well and save us the trouble. very much appreciate what you do.

i initially relayed my fog lights off of my corner lights due to laziness which was nice because it gave me fogs without or with DRL control but i really wanted tail lights with fogs. i think you provided my new wiring setup

Awesome! Sounds like you have a good understanding of this. One thing that may seem confusing- the "headlight relay" is used to supply a ground to the DRL circuit whenever the headlights are on- lighting the DRL's. This should actually be sourced from a headlamp+ 12v source. I sourced it from the taillight fuse. This works fine, it just provides a redundant ground when the parking lights are on ( the factory DRL circuit already provides the ground). Make sense?

makes perfect sense. did you wire the tail lights to be on with your fog lights?

No. I'm thinking about doing a rear foglight inside the left rear taillight though, or maybe lighting up just the left brake lamp. I only use my fogs (ion yellow PIAA's) when it's foggy or raining/snowing, and a rear foglight would make sense.
My fogs are wired so they can be turned on with the factory switch anytime the ignition is on.

i saw that with the last wiring setup you had. great idea too. going to wire it the same except add tail lights in any time fog lights are on.

BTW- I'm changing it to yellow (to signify fogs) when I get a chance. That'll make the third color change... AND

I just bought a 2012 4runner Trail (my first one!) and I am ready to mod it. By the way, your mods are amazing and I appreciate all the help you provide on this forum. I plan on doing at least half a dozen I have read.
Anyway, I am highly considering attempting this difficult mod in the near future, but I had a question regarding it possibly altering the mod. I understand you have the wired the Fog Lights and DRL so that turning on the Fogs lights turn off the DRLs (since you like the look better). Is there an easy way to do this exact mod, but be able to have DRL and Fog Lights on at the same time? So pretty much, "true" independent Fog Lights like your original Fog Light mod.
Also, I wanted to accomplish what rocklighting (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/105436-headlights.html#post947756) mentioned about keeping DRL on with the headlights too.
Ideally, here is what I want to do without installing additional switches (just the factory stalk)
Going through the 4 stalk settings:
1. Off - everything is off of course
2. DRL - DRL lights only on (but turns off when the key is turned like it normally does)
3. Parking Light - DRL and Parking Lights on
Note: so far this is how everything works right now. Here is the change.
4. Headlights - Right now, this turns on the Headlights and keeps the Parking Lights on but it shuts off the DRL, I want DRL to stay on if possible without an additional switch.
and finally to top off the madness,
Be able to turn the Hi-Beams on in any setting, not just when the Headlights are on. Also, did I mention, with all of this, I wanted truly independent Fog Lights? Not quite the same as how you have it set up, but I do understand why you like it with your setup.
To be extremely redundant (cause I'm anal as hell), I'll try to explain it in one sentence. I would be able to have every single light on simultaneously. It would happen when I am in Headlights mode, with my Brights switched on, as well as Fog Lights. But again, still have the functionality of my Brights & Fog Lights independently in any mode. While keeping my DRL on all the time, except when the stalk is turned to off obviously. Did I say "one" sentence? I said I would try.
I hope this is clear. Obviously I don't expect you to figure out the wiring for this if it's too complicated, but if you know how to take your mod and accomplish this with an easy change, I would love to know and perhaps be the first to attempt it (and hopefully succeed). If this is possible, I would be willing to take pictures and post a walkthrough like you have done for so many others (of course giving full credit to you for working out the details).

OK- now that I digested that, and stopped hyperventilating...
Most of that is already figured out. Let me lay it out for ya: Use this as a template...
Looking at the diagram above-
1: Eliminate the "FOG/DRL Switch" relay. Don't need that one. You WILL need to do the original independent fog mod (Fog Mod relay), and the other relay (Headlight+DRL)
2: The wire from terminal#30 (green) of the "Headlight+DRL" relay will tap into the factory green DRL wire (plug F11, pin#5). You will NOT cut the DRL wire, just tap into it.
3: The "Fog Mod" relay can be a standard 4-pin relay (doesn't matter if you use a 5-pin one though) because you won't use terminal #87A
What will this do.
Independent fogs- as long as the truck is running.
DRL's on- as long as the truck is running, but with the ability to turn them off with the factory switch.(IF you do the MOD- remember- your DRL's won't come on with the parking brake (break on this forum) depressed. Had me in a panic because of that...
Everything can be on at once.
I think that's correct- I hate to figure it out without testing it- things pop up because the electrical engineers that wired these suckers up were waaaay smarter than me!
But, that should work...now..That leaves the hibeams. You want them anytime? Don't you have that already (flash to pass). Or do you mean Hibeams with taillights, markers, all that jazz.

Wow you are the man! I knew you would have it figured in your head already. I think I will give it go after digesting your mods a little more (and doing the Fog mod first obviously to get some experience), albeit probably some questions along the way directed to you as well. I am a mechanical engineer so I'm not super electrical savvy but I can hang since I had to take a few of those god awful courses. I think when you say flash to pass, you mean just pulling the stalk toward the driver momentarily, and when it's released, it shuts them off again right? If I remember correctly though, pushing it in, (which is what I was going for) only keeps the brights on in headlight mode. Could be wrong on that though, I will check when I get in my car later.
Sorry. I talk too much for my own good. But I do appreciate you reading all of that, and then on top of that having a solution.
