Not sure why you think that, but it’s obviously missing air bag and trim pieces.

I’m not a fan of the red trim, so I reached out to Sev and asked if they would make one in all black, no colored trim. Sev made that happen for a small addition fee, and it’ll take a bit longer to get.

I think it’ll look good and would well.

You reuse all the missing parts from the existing wheel. Sev's install video shows this in detail.
 
Are they using the stock clockspring and modifying it or do they give you a different one? At any rate I can't help but think that is a terrible idea using anything other than OEM out of a 23. Here's hoping your vehicle doesn't burn down.

There is a new clock spring shown in the pictures.

IMO, anytime you have to replace the clock spring is a non-starter for me.

Edit: and swapping air bags is also a non-starter for me.

Swapping airbags isn't a big deal. Clocksprings however...whoa boy.

why would you say that? there is no manual mode. there is only a "max gear allowed" mode. the trans doesn't rev match on downshifts. paddles would do nothing. there's really no situation in this vehicle where I couldn't just reach down and use the shifter. And I do love a good paddle shift, but there's nothing to support paddles or even make them enjoyable at all on the 4R.

mobbing thru baja one handed is not ideal. 2 hands on the wheel and being able to downshift/keep it in a certain gear would be great.

its not the end of the world, but with the lack of power, i am constantly using the manual mode to lock it in certain gears. so paddle shifter would make it way nicer feeling.

ok, I'll buy that. that's something that I don't get to do where I am.
 
I bought this CarTrimHome heated steering wheel and had it professionally installed…and it’s great.

It feels like the steering wheel that should have originally been in the 4Runner. You turn it on after starting and it heats up relatively quickly.
 
Mine arrived a couple weeks ago, but we haven’t had time to install yet. The quality appears to be really great, so hopefully this weekend it’ll be operational.

FWIW, I didn’t want any red, just all black and no plastic piece at 12 o’clock, so for a small additional charge they gave me exactly what I wanted.

That's a lot of $$$$$$'s just to get something that is not needed, plus it's ugly as someone said. I personally would not want to give up all the features that the stock Toyota steering wheel has, all the electronic features and crash tested with air bags. Resale on a vehicle modified from stock can make it thousands below its normal appraised value.

I think you’re assuming facts not in evidence here.

“Ugly” is in the eye of the beholder. I think it looks great, at least the way I ordered it; without any red trim or the plastic piece at 12. It feels much better than stock too.

“Not needed” is also subjective. You may not find a heated wheel of benefit in Texas, but in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest it’s a welcome addition.

It uses a Toyota frame, so it’s just as safe as the stock one. You don’t lose any of the electronics or safety features, they transfer over.

The only think missing from your post was “get off my lawn!”
