Anybody bashed stuff with their front bumper?

If it's in good condition, you should be able to get at least $200 for it. If it has the stock fogs in it, yank those out and sell them separately. You can get another $75-100 for them.

Thanks for reply bro. :thanks:

That first link is an interesting read. It brings up a point that I think will become more prevalent, which is the fact that an off-road bumper will do ALOT more damage to the other car in the case of an accident. I'm not saying they are criminally unsafe and shouldn't be used on the road, but you should take safety into consideration if you are just buying the bumper for looks essentially.

Whether an accident is your fault or the other driver's, the off-road bumper is going to do alot more damage, and increases the likelihood of doing serious damage to an occupant of the other car. I think Thai has a good point that you could potentially be sued for contributory negligence, and lets be honest, public sentiment will be against you in court if you kill someone and have a potentially dangerous macho modification to your vehicle.

Crush zones are a major design feature on modern vehicles, and do make a big difference in an accident, it's not a small difference.

Anyway, I am not intending to flame this or anything, just more a heads up to anyone considering an aftermarket bumper that doesn't NEED it for off-roading. I'd love to have one, but to be honest, I don't off-road, so it is really unnecessary for me and it's more likely that I will end up in an accident with it than actually need it off-roading. I would not be surprised at all if our lovely old government "clarifies" the law to say that the crush zone is a legally required safety feature, so any vehicle on which the crush zone is "disabled" is illegal. You could probably get criminal charges for disabling a safety feature, so it isn't really a small matter.

Anyway, just food for thought. Really consider whether you need the bumper or not. The OP didn't really mention whether he off-roads enough to really need the bumper, or if he just wants it.
