Anybody Upgraded the Fog Lights?

I'm interested in swapping in some more powerful lighting... has anyone installed more robust fog lights (or stronger driving lights in place of the current fogs)?

I upgraded the bulbs to HID's with ballasts from TRS. Light output is great, I don't have projector housings, but haven't had any complaints or flashes about the glare.

I highly suggest going with H9 bulbs. They are 65w but my wiring has been just fine. I have had them in for 2 years and 63k miles with ZERO issues. The lumens they put out is almost double that of the stock H11 (2100 vs 1200). It will take 5 minutes to "modify" the H9 bulb housing to fit the H11 socket. There are plenty of pictures and how to's online for me to go into great detail.

I actually thought about doing a retro fit for the fogs to get some HIDs in there but with the back of the Shrockworks bumper being open to the elements I think I am staying with the stock bulbs for now.

I had 3000K HIDs in my fogs and replaced them with Hoen Endurance H11 yellows. They are 55w and output a much better, deeper yellow light than the HIDs. I prefer the yellower fogs to contrast the bright output from my projectors. Of all the different fog light setups I've tried on my truck, I like the Hoens the best.

does anyone know if installing HID or after market lights with a lower watts in your fogs trip the computer telling you that a bulb needs to be replaced? I was thinking of installing HIDs in the fogs as soon as i figure out where to place the ballast. Thanks.

You failed to understand the principle. Having 4 lights to look at/contend with when meeting a car is annoying. Especially when more than 50% of the people on the road seem to do it.

Granted front fog lights do have a low beam but they are not angled away from oncoming traffic & they reflect of road surfaces straight into oncoming traffic, especially when wet. More importantly they highlight the road directly in front of your vehicle which actually reduces long distance visibility by contracting your pupils. For lights do nothing for enhancing long range visibility at night at highway speeds when it is needed most.

If you insist on blinding me with your enhanced fog lights when it's dry and clear, don't be offended when I blast you with the high beams. You play your games and I'll play mine.

Maybe you could invest in Rigids, melt their retinas, and cause permanent damage..then you'd really show them ...

... but flashing at drivers with offensive lights is not ok? (and trust me pal, HIDs in fog lights are very offensive)

They're FOG lights bro, not "I'm cool" lights. And their optics are designed for halogen bulbs - nothing else.

Believe me, if I'm met with offensive lights, that driver will get high beams like he's not likely seen before.

two wrongs dont make a right, so yes seriously. And in my opinion "high beams like he's not likely seen before" sounds a bit malicious. There are more important things in life to focus on than who is driving around with their fog lights or driving lights energized.
