Anyone add memory seats or park distance control to theirs?

It seems insane to me that most 4runners don't come with either of these systems. My TRDP had a sticker price of $54k and neither of these were standard or even an option.

It seems to me that there has to be some reasonable way of adding one or both.

As far as the memory seats, that should just be some sort of module, the memory seat switch, and some sort of flash. Maybe carista or similar could program it?

And I think I remember reading a thread about the PDC at one point where a member got a quote from his dealer to install the system on his T4R. Is that something anyone here has bothered to do?

Yeah I understand.

I'm used to having the memory seats on my old car. It's not a big deal, but I do occasionally have to valet it or otherwise hand the keys over (service, etc.) and they inevitably mess with the seat. Aside from pulling a fuse, I just wish it was easy to integrate that module.

And the PDC isn't such a big deal for the back because of the camera, but parking in a garage or moving around a tight parking lot is tricky when you don't know exactly where the front of the car is.

If no one has done a conversion of either, oh well

So the differences are, yes, modules but as a lot of harness builders around here have also discovered, that all trims have different accessory wire harnesses. For example, a lot of people were able to add auto headlights auto dash dimming by simply buying and installing the sensor, mine for example didn't have it pre-wired. Or another example heated mirrors, some trims have them others haven't even got the necessary wiring to get them.

So guaranteed from a Limited feature to get in a TRD Pro, 90% chance you haven't got the necessary connections BUT notice I said ninety percent, there is a small chance. So start tearing that trim off and check it out

I looked into the memory seat thing a while back, and keep in mind this is what I found for the 2014-19's. I would assume the 20's are similar, but they are very different electrically so just my best guess here.

None of the wiring is present for memory seats, and even if you built a standalone harness, the main body ECU is different, as is the motors, switch, and frame of the seat itself. So short of slapping in a seat from the limited and spending a lot of money on parts, it's not feasible. It would be nice to have, but for the money it would be cheaper to buy a limited and convert it to a TRD pro like [MENTION=1863]daytonaviolet[/MENTION]

That being said, the 20 Limited and Pro are more similar than previous years, so it could be it's an easy swap. Just need to start checking and seeing what is where as [MENTION=99702]jrandom[/MENTION] said.

The same goes with the parking sensors. You can add the bumper sub assembly harness and sensors, but no wiring is along the frame, dash, or engine bay to support them. Plus you need an ECU. The instrument cluster in the 2014-19 is the same in the SR5 and Limited, but different in the TRD trims.

For the 20's the limited and TRD's share the same cluster with the SR5 being different cosmetically. I am assuming the electronics are all the same in them, so parking info should display.

One thing I need with memory seats is memory mirrors too. The limited 4Runner is seat position only, no mirror adjustments.

Following! Really wish I had the parking sensors and I'd be very tempted by memory seats if cheap "fix"

Have the Canadian TRD Off-Road, which generally seem to be more premiumly-equipped than the US counterpart.

memory seats... forget about it..

front parking sensor however... a car audio shop could probably install an aftermarket parking sensor in the front of the vehicle and also tie a front camera to trigger as the sensors come close to objects.... i thought about putting something together but it didnt seem to be worth my time... i could probably get a newly painted front bumper from all the parts and retrofitting if it were to get damaged

On my old Honda Accord I had (if I remember) only rear sensors installed, but it only trigged in Reverse and it included both a light-up display and sound for the sensors. But it was a separate unit near the rearview mirror, not linked to head unit at all. Personally, I'd be okay with that. Obviously an integrated solution would be nicest!

Given more offroad use, would def love a way to turn them on or off though

I was disappointed when it only comes with memory seats only. In previous cars, the memory seats would go hand and hand with the side mirrors together..

Strangely my 2008 FJCruiser had the distance parking function. That was a pretty bare bones vehicle so I thought it strange.
Then again the visibility was so poor it needed it more.

When was the last time you heard of memory seats or park distance controls breaking? They're pretty simple things. Also note that these features potentially breaking does nothing to immobilize the vehicle. Best case you get to use helpful features. Worst case you go from having the feature to not having the feature.

Are you also upset that your car has seatbelts, airbags, ABS, an infotainment system, air-conditioning, etc. too?

You could use the Anytime Backup and Front Camera Kit (2014 to 2019) it has a front cam that would help you park better..
