I noticed this sticker today on the door frame of my 12 LE right above the tire pressure sticker...anyone else have this on their 4R? Or care to venture a guess as to what it means?? 65lbs isn't much and it won't make a difference in my driving, but I'm just more curious than anything.
Anyone else have this?

I have the yellow sticker saying "....reduced by 16lbs" on my '12 SR5

Something was added or subtracted at the dock. Look for a recent thread listing all the mods they do at the shipyards once these come in country.
Like 1Engineer said... it's anything added after the truck got here. I had a "cargo cover" and my capacity was reduced by 25 lbs. At the bottom of the sticker mine says "SET" which I assume stands for "South Eastern Toyota"
I see...probably all the extras like Running Boards, Cargo Deck, etc that are listed on the sticker as additional options. This would make sense too in that all weight adjustments are different.

The Federal Government and it's regulations are the funny ones in this case and made Toyota do it! IMO, common sense regulating would have put a limit of some sort like over +20-25 lbs or something on the law.
I got mine in the mail and it was a +16lbs and as stated it's from port or dealer installed options after the manufacturers final certification.

Except as provided in S10, a new placard or placard and label shall be affixed, so as to obscure the original placard, to an altered vehicle that has previously been certified in accordance with §567.4 or §567.5, other than by the addition, substitution, or removal of readily attachable components such as mirrors or tire and rim assemblies, or minor finishing operations such as painting, or who alters the vehicle in such a manner that its stated weight ratings are no longer valid, before the first purchase of the vehicle in good faith for purposes other than resale, containing accurate information for the altered vehicle, in accordance with S4.3.
S10. Weight added to vehicles between final vehicle certification and first retail sale of the vehicle.
S10.1 If weight exceeding the lesser of 1.5 percent of GVWR or 45.4 kg (100 pounds) is added to a vehicle between final vehicle certification and first retail sale of the vehicle, the vehicle capacity weight values on the placard required by S4.3 or S4.3.5 and the load carrying capacity weight values on the RV load carrying capacity labels (Figures 3 and 4) required by S9.3 must be corrected using one or a combination of the following methods:
(a) Permanently affix load carrying capacity modification labels (Figure 7), which display the amount the load carrying capacity is reduced to the nearest kilogram with conversion to the nearest pound, within 25 millimeters of the original, permanent RV load carrying capacity label (Figure 3 or 4) and the original placard (Figure 1). On my third oil change the dealer added that sticker (I know for sure it was not there prior, I am OCD so I know everything about most things around me). It was right after I added the BajaRack.
Had it on my Fj and it was fairly considerable weight. The one on my '12 LE is funny, "This vehicles weight capacity has been changed by "0" lbs."

I have one on my 2010, where the carrying capacity reduction was hand written (6 kg/14 lbs) into two lines on an otherwise pre-printed sticker. I don't know if this was added prior to delivery (to me) or a subsequent service. Makes me think he latter, as the sticker was not a nice fully pre-printed sticker as the OP's. The only dealer installed options on my vehicle were the tow hitch (7 lbs) and carpet set (including rear sliding deck mat).

In our case, according to the reg, if there was enough weight to exceed (the lessor of) 1.5% of our GVWR ( in my case according to the sticker 6300 lbs or 1.5% x 6300 =94.5 lbs) or 100 Lbs, then no additional sticker was needed. (I got that bright ugly sticker, came off the first day).
Why Toyota still puts on a sticker if the add on's at the dock are under that amount? Overabundance of caution I suspect. Not a bad thing.
Be safe.

A little side note to my Tacoma's 5lb sticker. When I first bought it the sticker said 165lbs several months later, actually about 8-9 months, I received the 5lb sticker in the mail with instructions to apply it over the original. My Tacoma was never serviced by Toyota, go figure :shrug:
