Anyone else seeing gas prices surging?

At this altitude I don't put the premium in the GX. So mid grade was $2.65 yesterday. Fairly average recently. I expect about a dollar more by summer.
Fuel hedges seem to be very volatile. I asked a hedge manager about wholesale prices. She said, no one has any idea what to expect. But much higher is the most accepted theory. Lots of big users are hedging if they can. That only makes logical sense.

I am thinking about adding funding to a co-op I joined to lock in prices...
I really don't want to pay the $4.50+/gal again.

Take what I save then and reinvest.

Yep, now at $2.34 in Denver area. Crude at $52/barrel.
Hopefully we can stay under $3.00 this Summer.

SF Bay Area, South Bay:
Prices are about $0.30 higher than the lowest last year.
Now it ranges from $2.73 to $3.79, Chevron is always at the high end.
Costco regular is $2.99 today.

$0.35 in three days in the Northeast.
:dammit::wow2:

Not that I *really* care as it keeps people (idiot drivers) off the roads here. :becky:

Covid has actually been a dream come true as the congestion is NIL compared to normal.

I'm old enough to remember 2008, when I was told gas would "soon be $5.00 a gallon and never look back." Granted, I buy gas in one of the most oil-rich states in the US, so prices are lower than the NE US, but still we aren't at $5/g yet.

So, what's the next nonsense to get all carried away with? I want to get my overreaction in early.

You know, I have no idea what I paid for gas last time. I only purchase gas every 2 to 4 weeks. My hybrid camry is great. I have to take the 4runner out occasionally for exercise but mostly it sits in the garage waiting for the next camping trip.

People who are complaining about the price of gas should check out the price of bottled water and be thankful that their cars run on gas instead of bottled water. And if you think the gas tax is high compare it to the taxes and prices in Europe.

High gas prices are good because it encourages people to drive less and to drive more fuel efficient vehicles. If the prices are really painful for you buy a Vespa.

I am glad you made this point- In Michigan we pay (well, stupid people do anyways) up to $4 per gallon for Nestle bottled water, for which Nestle pays $.00000095 per gallon. 576,000 gallons per day extracted x 365 days, $200 annual fee.

Hello fellow Pigou Club member

Yeah its a shame fascism didn't take hold last week so that you can save $0.35 per gallon.
Speaking of fascism, 35-40 Executive orders in a week when your party has control of the House and Senate... Yeah... sure glad a "fascist" wasn't "elected":clap2:

The price of bottled water is high because stupid people are willing to pay it. Supply and Demand. Meanwhile contributing to the ecological disaster of water bottles everywhere.

Not to get too deep into the political structure of the US government, but Presidential EOs are not laws themselves (Congress passes laws) but instructions on how to interpret and implement the existing laws... hence, Executive Order.

$2.70-$2.75 at Wawa's around Limerick to Douglasville, Pa.:mmph::rant::puke:
