Anyone Have A Secondary Vehicle?

I'm also in Northern Colorado, I ride a 2015 Triumph Street Triple in the summer months when I can. I work in downtown Denver so sometimes commuting on the bike can suck when traffic gets nasty on the highway.

As far as experience with Mazda goes, my wife has a 2014 Mazda 3 and it's perfect for her commute to Boulder daily and for general running around. 39MPG ain't shabby either.

My primary mode of transportation is a 2015 Yamaha FJ-09. In SoCal, it's legal to split lanes, which can help if traffic gets heavy.

My 16 Trail is my secondary vehicle. My primary is my 2017 Ford F150 4x4 5.0 (assigned work vehicle = free gas). My wife has a Lexus IS250 and my son has a John Cooper Works Mini Cooper ....

I'm in the market for another sports car. Not sure if I'll stick to a new Vette or Viper (last year made) or go with something more exotic since I'll only put less then 1k miles a year on it....... After my trip to Italy and getting the tour of Ferarri I keep getting drawn to prancing horses or angry bulls.

My "secondary" vehicle will be my late mother-in-law's Ford Windstar, but only because it's a great deal, and my wife wants it for sentimental reasons.
I have a friend who has a Mazda and loves it.
My daughter just bought a Mitsubishi and loves it.

We had a Windstar for awhile. Power Steering fluid preferred to be slightly over filled. Otherwise it would wine when topped off correctly. Fords of that era including the Windstar were built with the wrong gasket material on the plastic intake. The job takes a little time to swap the gaskets. Way cheaper to perform yourself with Rockauto replacements than the dealer. Ours ate windshield wipers motors.

I typically bought the upscale Rockauto parts. They were the exact same part/manufacturer the dealer would supply.

A 2006 5 speed corolla is my primary for commute and the 4runner is my weekend warrior! The best investment I ever made was buying a used corolla from an old lady who had all the paper work for every oil change and all the maintenance done to it! Great on gas, only $20 per week and I drive about 350 miles a week. Plus its a stick so it keeps things interesting and fun!

My 4Runner is my weekend car. I daily drive my FR-S. Basically, I can commute by myself and take my kid to school in the FR-S, so I end up driving it during the week and when the whole family is out for weekend adventures, we end up in the 4Runner more often than not. When the FR-S lease is up next summer, I'll probably start daily driving the 4Runner. I think daily driving my "fun car" has taken a little fun out of it. I'll probably pick up something older, less practical, and maybe without a roof as my fun car. A 2ZZ-GTE swapped MR2 Spyder sounds like a blast.

my 06 4runner is my primary, my 85 4runner is secondary. then, if things really go bad with both of those, I have an 89 F250, an 05 ninja, and an 04 ktm 450...

If I was looking for a beater / second car I'd get a used Civic or Corolla. Mazda's quality has declined and Mitsubishi - meh.

I also have a 2014 Suzuki Vstrom 1000 that I ride as much as possible in the summer. This is my 4Runner preservation plan. :washing:

My main vehicle is a V-Strom 650, one of two: a 2015 or a 2011, both set up exactly the same. I put way more miles on them than the 4R. All my commuting is done on the bikes. I basically use the 4R for camping and hauling stuff.

Actually, this will be my second Windstar. I owned a MINT GREEN one that I bought from a friend. Not a bad vehicle, and it served me well for hauling gear every weekend. But, yeah, I had the same noise in the steering. Fortunately, the one we're buying is NOT mint green.

My 2017 TRD Off Road is my DD. On weekends I use a 2000 Tundra. It only has 104000 miles and rides great. The gas mileage is not all that bad, and the V8 is a blast to drive.

Seriously, that's my wife's rig...its an 02 with 245k on the original drivetrain. I got it for $4600 five years ago, and it has been the main family vehicle. It's a very comfortable ride, like floating a luxury yacht down the highway. Since I got it so cheap, I don't mind the 12mpg so much. But when (or if, rather) we actually succeed in driving "Bertha" into the ground, I'll either get my wife a Highlander for hauling the kids around or give her the 4runner and get myself a Prius to zip in and out of the city for work. Depends on what gas costs when we get to that point.

My 4runner is my secondary vehicle... my primary vehicle is a 2017 Toyota Corolla iM... lots of cool features and good gas mileage... kinda sucks though because I spend 75% of my time freeway driving...and can't get my average mph over about 22... I wouldn't even know that without all the onboard computer constantly monitoring everything

My 4runner has been my primary but with 130k on the clock and 17mpg I decided I need to save some money. I looked at BMW 328s 330s and even a 335. All were great but they gas mileage wasn't that great and insurance was expensive. Ended up picking up a Certified 12 corolla s. Averaging 35mpg and it only cost me 300 a year go insure full coverage. Only wish it was a 5sped but all the local ones were beat up.
