Anyone have an 09 trail edition ? HELP

OK here's my problem I have an 08 sport ed 4WD. I'mtrying to get the trail edition badges, iI have replaced my rear with 09 trail for rear locking diff. I was told by member on forum the badges could be ordered from my Toyota dealer. I called the Toyota dealer they would not let me order badges without a vin number. So if anyone could hook me up with vin to get me a set of badges ordered it be easyr. Or if anyone can get them from there dealer I'llpay u for badges and shipping to ship them to me. Or if anyone has a set brand new iI'dlove to buy them if u willing to part with them. But to sum it up my vin does not match a 09 trail edition so dealer want order badges I'd love to use someones to order me a set or 2 PM me if u can help thanks in advance

You said you put the 09 Rear Locking Diff in your 4runner? Did you have to re-gear the front to make it match the rear, or are you leaving the front a different ratio?

I considered this swap myself once, but by time you get the axle housing, the diff, the front gears, the switch, the sub harness and 4x4 ECU the ARB is cheaper.

Yes I'm highly iirritated with my dealer its so stuiped Ieven gave them part number said said iIneed to order them. But iI guess BC I was on file showing 08 sport ed they wanted to be lame. Proll want use the dealer close ever again telling me basicly Iccan't spend my mind ney at there dealer on that part. Yes just got it swapped this weekend I haven't had time to re gear I may see about running iI think it was Yukon 4.56 gear not sure exactly... Its only been 2 miles since swap. Thanks for the link for emblems.

To add to what I had said I looked into arb but with air lockers i just wasent really into that. I like the factory look and the best part is no one know iI have rear diff lock yet .its a sleeper 4x4 it allso helps mines a v8

If you want to get the trail looking seats, you should check out these covers. The 3rd gen guys seem to like them, and they make them when you order them

You have a point. a V8 trail edition would have been a major seller, but I guess they only had v6s to get rid of.

Man if Icould have some great ccondition 09 trail ed seats I'd pull mime out and put those in but those seat covers look good are they a tight fit like wet oke? (Been thinking about those seats but the stock trail ed are water proof they say..yes guess the factory said let's make this only in v6 it makes no sense to me. Like u said maybe they only had v6 left to get rid of.

Looking at those, the clazzio seat covers look a better fit. They look sloppy in those pics compared to clazzio fit. And that rear center arm rest is shitty too.

As far as a trail edition vin, try searching auto trader or ebay for a random for sale.

Uh, you have a AWD V8 with different ratios on the front and rear axle?

I'm not a mechanic but is this not a potentially serious problem? Or does the center diff make up for the different ratios?

it wont work for long, the transfer case will come apart in a not so subtle way.

Guys that's why its only been 2 miles im still havingto gear iI haven't yet I also haven't had a lot of time. The rear axle has be mounted and drove just to check stuff. As for gears it going to be re geared once I decide on what gearing and all. Maybe this weekend....aalso does anyone know if TRD has a supercharger for the v8 or that's only for the v6

You can still tell it's differ gears no the centerdoes not make up for the miss match gears

Several have converted the rear dif to elocker. Nothing wrong with that, not going to hurt a thing. Hell, you don't even need a different housing, you can grind the slot open and drill and tap the 2 holes I think it was, and viola! Shove that puppy in there! There's even a place that makes a wiring harness for it.

Don't the v8 4runners have a larger ring gear than the FJs and the v6 4runners?

hmmm. that I am not sure about. I remember reading about this swap on another board and thought it was a direct swap for the V8 (with some mod of the housing) because they both have 3.73 gearing.

The v6 3rd member is the same on all of them. Doesn't matter if it's v6 or v8. You can even run the old 4cyl ones but the ring is thinner and not as strong.
