Anyone here get an iPhone 5 ?

Curious to see with the "lightning" adapter with the glove box USB use. If you can make calls thru steering wheel buttons and that you can play ur music in aux. and if u can do pandora or bluetooth both.
I know, a lot to ask. But I'm up for an upgrade with my sprint service....and figured iPhone ......5 would do or just 4 and save dough.....

Or spend a little more and get a droid. Has a iphone, horrid phone. Went through 5 and and in the same time I've have my HTC Vivid I had 2 iPhones. Droids and everything the iPhone is and more, excluding the mix for the camera.
 
Your usb may work for music, but it wont charge. The i5 requires a 2.1amp charge, your usb doesn't provide that.

There are plenty of better android devices out there. The i5 is barely caught up to android of last year.

I've only used the outlet in the armrest to charge the phone. Everything else worked through Bluetooth, including music and making calls. Steering wheel controls work well.

Go for the 5. Well worth the jump from the 4; not so sure about from the 4S.

Yes, I bought one and LOVE it! I just received my extra usb cable the other day and installed it yesterday. When you hit the aux button is comes up with iPod but I have not played around with the other features with my BT off. My BT is always on and connects so I'm not sure which method it is/was using

Actually, that is not correct. Mine was charging my phone yesterday! Short drive went from 78% to 82% and showed the charging icon.

Keep that droid vs iphone to the fun OT thread going! :)
 
Ok, so turned off BT on the way to work this morning (yes, working on Sunday). As I figured, hit the call button and it says it can not find a phone to dial from, so I guess that answers that part. I also know when you hit the aux button you can cycle through to either the 'iPod' or the 'BT Streaming'. I did not test to see if Pandora would play through the cable or if you have to have BT on and run it through that way, but I would guess it would be a BT only thing, but I will test that part out later.

Upgraded to the 5 from 3gs. With my USB cable in my truck, my phone was charging. I can also use my cube with the 110 outlet in the console if necessary. I always play music thru my BT and that was working fine. All contacts transferred back over fine. I've had no issues at all, I'm very pleased with the phone.

It does charge for me, without issue. While it may charge slower (I can't confirm because I've only plugged it in for a few minutes to see if would charge). As for the secondary comment, "to each his own" - I prefer the apple eco system (personally). For me, it's a perfect fit given my iPad 2 and my mac.

Upgraded from the 4 to the 5 and love it so far. I use bluetooth for music and the outlet in the console to charge.

The nice thing is you can just hold down the home button on the phone and Siri turns on and works great over the car's speakers and mic.
 
enjoying my iPhone 5 so far—Verizon service even more so (switched from AT&T).

i primarily use my 160GB iPod classic (in glovebox) for music, but BT (still) works great with the 5. neat iOS 6 feature: you can maintain BT connection to iPhone (for music and phone calls) and at the same time toggle BT off for Siri. (personally i've always found Siri to be even flakier than usual over BT.)

Ok............

So upgrading from my Samsung flip phone (don't laugh) to the iPhone 5 is gonna be it. I want the iPhone since my truck was broken into over the summer and my iPod touch 2nd gen (im very used to using apple products) was stolen. So.....instead of replacing that I figured I'd replace both the phone and iPod touch with the iPhone 5.......as long as I can :
1-charge the iPhone though the USB (assuming with the lightning adapter) and then take it with me so I won't leave it in the truck n get stolen.....
2-play music files stored in iPhone 32g or higher for me I guess (lotsa music)
3-BT phone through steering controls
4-BT Pandora (bye bye sat radio $)
5-hey....wondering....if I use YouTube. Guess if go to"aux" will it play through my speakers?....

I have the HTC 4g LTE with the sprint service that doesn't provide LTE... :wtf::redbrick:

I got SAT $25 for 6 months so haven't really used the bluetooth connection for a while.
 
I've got the new iPhone 5, just paired it up with the head unit through blue-tooth, so far I'm pretty happy, music plays very nicely, haven't tried hands free calling yet, will update later.

I would suggest the 5 over the 4S, if you are getting an apple, get the latest!
 
got my iphone a few days ago, 4 runner on it's way

Really kinda amuses me that my first post on the forum is not about my new 4runner, which i am just starting to get stoked about, but the iPhone5.

i can't wait to drive the t4r on the crazy roads where i live. potholes and gaps like nowhere else in the country. u aint seen nuttin yet
