Thinking about driving up on the 20th and spending the night somewhere, maybe just sleep in the back, watch the eclipse on the 21st and driving back. Anyone else going to Casper or other parts of Wyoming to watch?
Anyone in CO driving to WY for the eclipse?

I was going to bring the family up but every single hotel in entire area has been booked for months. Good luck finding a hotel. Sleeping in car most likely will be best.
Then again its just an eclipse. That would be a lot of money, time to go see 3 minutes of an eclipse. NTM it will be recorded and posted on social media via every angle known to man.

I live in Idaho and the traffic here is nuts already. Stand still in the interstate, so bad that they will be putting blue rooms all along the interstate.
No hotels whatsoever around here and I heard the the cheap La Quinta rooms that were left in Utah we're going for over $250 a night. They are allowing farmers to rent out their property to allow camping but there will be no restrooms or any sort of utilities at the majority of them.

I envy people who has nothing better to do with their lifes as to see a shadow for 2 minutes.
There might be traffic jams. I get the impression that lots of people might be driving to see this.

That's a good thing for me because I won't need to worry about recording the event since 10 million others will be. I can just experience it. I was in one when I was a kid, we were driving in the day and it got dark for a few minutes. Didn't realize the significance of it.
I was planning on driving down from the Seattle area and I've been aware of the supposed traffic nightmares, but the fact that they're already having issues down in portland is having me lean towards bailing. I might head over the mountains and get down to the columbia river gorge area, but hell, Tacoma is at like 94% totality, so I won't be missing out on THAT much.
Either way, life is short and some things are worth witnessing. If I depended on instagram or cnn to capture all of the once in a lifetime things that happen, what the hell am I gonna talk about when I'm in my 90s? Gotta take a day off work once in awhile, lol

I will be driving to Nebraska from Colorado Sunday morning. I was originally going to drive to Wyoming but after seeing both Glendo and Casper are putting on events I said f that. In Oregon they are putting on an event in Pineville, it took 10 hours for some people to get there yesterday.
my hopes are
everyone already left and traffic wont be too bad
the constant news of how bad the traffic will be will scare everyone off

Yeah, Im not going to be that guy at work outside with his phone in the air.
totally worth the drive. i spent an extra day up there and missed all the traffic nightmares on the way back.
gotta say for those that say you can see it in CO or watch what other people record you guys missed out. it was an amazing experience. not just the sun being blacked out but all of it. cricket came out. night hawks too. birds nested. the 360* sunset/sunrise was bad ass! the light and the odd shadows. the entire experience was amazing. you really have to be in a totality area to truly appreciate it. simply amazing!

100% agree. seeing pictures and videos does not come close to seeing it in person. when it goes completely dark you can see that blue ring, the stars, planets. Well worth the drive.
I drove up to Nebraska though and missed all of the traffic. We didn't hit any traffic on the drive up. Drive back was less than 5hours even after stopping for lunch in Ft Morgan (normally 3.5hours)
