Anyone know about Savage Offroad?

Does anyone have experience working with Savage offroad or any of their products. I'm particularly interested in their sliders and rear tube bumpers.

I've heard good things only but by the time you pay shipping it's about the same price as addicted offroad's rear bumper. Not sure which one I like better.
 
I had recently bought their sliders out the door with shipping was 322. I can't vouch for the durability, have not had time to test them but they look real sweet on my runner!!!!
 
Actually the owner Roy Lewis is one of my best friends. There stuff is awesome and Roy is easy to work with, give him a call. I know this week he is headed up to his sisters wedding but he should pick up the phone anyways as it is his cell. I have hammered my sliders a few times with no issues. Roy loves to wheel hard in his rig as well and his sliders and bumper look great. He tows a 20 foot camping trailer with his rig and tube bumper all the time.

I keep telling him to get on the forums but he is kinda old school for a thirty two year old. He would rather be out in the shop or playing with his two labs then sit and stare at a computer. You should check out his skids as well. He recently updated them to cover the lower a arm and they are nice because they are three piece which makes it easier to change the oil. My two cents.

i had his front bumper on my last 4runner (99 limited), the welds were great and i could jack on it all day long plus he does a great job for the body lifts.
 
I plan on getting his sliders, skids and eventually bumpers. I like that he specializes in 3rd gen 4runners. This makes me confident about the fit. He has good prices too.
 
I have two sets of his sliders, one set on a 97 and one set on 99. Have tested them, pretty hard on them really. I couldn't be happier with them. Fit is perfect and the quality is awesome.
 
I received their front bumper today =D. i can not wait to get it mounted! Would you have any tips on mounting the blinker and or stock fog lights? They were really good about responding to my questions, good buy experience!

I'm sure that's a no go dude. Why would either vendor want you to do that? Savage makes a full tire carrier with swing out. Just get the whole thing from them.

Personally I prefer my truck to be LIGHT and not loaded down with tons of weight. Despite the bumpers you see, I have aluminum skids and that rear number only weighs a few pounds more that the factory hitch and bumper setup.

A lot of the guys here have rigs SO bogged down with extra steel they can barely go 70 mph up an incline. I say skip the tire swing out and just get the basic rear bumper .

I prefer the addicted bumper over savage. And its my truck right? And I'm sure my truck is going to weigh around 5700 with the setup I have in my head. Besides it would give people who own an addicted bumper another option to get a swing out carrier without paying another grand plus taking there rig to addicted to get a swing out.

I have the addicted bumper and love it. Got a front coming this week too.

Your post made me curious though so I looked at the DIY instructions on savages website for the tire carrier. It still requires a good amount of fab to even mount it to a savage bumper. It looks like it could work on the addicted bumper, but honestly if I was going to do it I would just get the bits needed like the hinge and latch assembly and build the rest myself. I think you can put together a nice product for under $300 building it on your own.

On another note who has the savage sliders and how easy did they mount up and how did they hold up?
 
The curb weight of a SR5 V6 is very very close to 3900 lbs.

My main point was why would any vendor want to support a weld onto another vendors bumper?

Maybe I misread you but if that is your question then the answer is an obvious no ---if you want warranty support.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you tried at your own risk.

Having installed a Savage tire carrier, I can honestly say it wasn't bad on fabrication. Yes, you do need to know how to weld, and yes there is a bit of cutting, but all in all it was pretty reasonable considering it's an addition to the original design. As far as weight is concerned, the rear carrier is pretty light, weighing in at about 30-35lbs.
