No, it's not. There is no option - either on the smart key or on the head unit - to unlock all four doors with one press of the key fob.

In short, yes, we're screwed. Stupid double press that never seems to be timed properly so you just keep dicking with it while your passenger/spouse glares until your windows all roll down instead. LOL

I have Compustar remote start installed and when I hit unlock from the Compustar remote it unlocks all doors, albeit it unlocks drivers first and then all other doors after a 1 second delay. When I use the regular remote it only unlocks drivers door with one press - a double press is still needed for all other doors.

I had the dealer customize a bunch of settings. After the 3rd attempt everything is how i want it.

No, 2018 should have similar programming as my 2019 and 2020 as i mentioned above. Just go to the dealer and have them program it, its not in the head unit its a coding option. Personally i prefer driver unlock first for safety in not so good areas and will deal with the pain of hitting unlock twice for all doors. I also prefer all doors to lock after a 15/20mph so i can be sure my doors are always locked when driving so i chose that feature to be on. I also had them set the rear wiper timing and the auto window down with the key fob.

unless the dealer set that option for you, you'll need a unit like Carista to make that change. When done, you'll be able to push and hold the unlock button and that will roll all windows down except for the tailgate.

Yeah its something you can activate with Carista (cheap app and Bluetooth dongle) or Techstream (more involved dealer type software, still cheap) that can modify various functions "safely" on the vehicle. Common changes are disabling the stupid eco bar and light and the roll down option.

Still wont be able to do one push unlock all sadly.

This (see link) is a Bluetooth dongle(another word for attachment) that connects to your OBD port near your hood release. You download Carista and it will connect to the dongle through Bluetooth and allow you to change the settings inherent to the vehicle. Its easier than it sounds if youre not a techie/car person.

This one is for ANDROID but if youre iPhone just amazon "OBD2 dongle iPhone"

I was tempted to get the Carista app and dongle but i figured i would change it only once so i let the dealer do it.

And yes the dealer can program it to one push unlock all. Guess the app does not have that.

For the price of the dongle (which is nice for other car apps too) and a single use fee for Carista (cheap) its worth it in my opinion to NOT have to go to the dealer and let them change all the little things I might want done.

The standard keys (not smart) cannot do one push all unlock. Even with Techstream, dealer software, the standard metal key, cannot be set to one touch unlock all.

yes mine works same way. unlocks all if i grab either driver or passenger handle. but if i use the smart key, only unlocks the drivers side. any case, i usually leave the smart key in my pockets and always grab for the door. all my my cars works the same way. there's usually never a case where the smart keys are in my hands.

Yes, just tried it. If I have my key on me and touch either front door, all doors unlock. Better than nothing, I guess, but it's hard to believe Toyota does not give us the option of unlocking all with one press. Weird.

If that's the case then my dealer sucks/lazy and despite my having Carista AND Techstream neither gave the one click unlock option.


I will GLADLY take it back and fuss at someone at the dealership if it has indeed been done on a STANDARD key Runner!

It seems even the good dealers don't have a full grasp of all the custom programming (3 tries to get it right for me). And when i researched Carista it does not necessarily give full access to all customizable features.

Show the dealer page 548, they should be able to do it.

I just left a dealership. We had to get a new key, only had 1 when we bought it. I tried to get them to program both keys to 1 touch unlock. After about 40 mins they came back and said the 2019 doesn't have an option for 1 touch unlock.

They are incorrect as most dealers seem to be nowadays. Works on 19s
