Anza-Borrego family fun trail run weekend

Thanks to everyone coming out and enjoying this weekend exploring. It was a great time! Glad for the newbie holding it down with the stock 5th gen [MENTION=173521]2barevo[/MENTION]. We'll see you on the next run with your new lifts, mud terrains, armor, fridge...lol!

Jeep and [MENTION=140622]UnJeep[/MENTION] glad you guys made it home safe. Kind of bummer missed out on some sites but we'll do it again. Much respect to jeep on tackling the beast hill 3 times. WOW!

Thanks to [MENTION=117408]Oneluv13T4R[/MENTION] in putting the route together. It will always be some epic memories. Thanks for leading [MENTION=117408]Oneluv13T4R[/MENTION] and [MENTION=77357]85straight[/MENTION] made it easy and smooth as always.

I left the Ranger Station at 9:10am and went to Fish Creek thinking we were doing Sandstone canyon today aaaaand just saw that Ocotillo Wells is the area for the day trip. I'm headed to Gas Dome and hopefully I'll bump into everyone!

Dang man sorry you didn't get the change if meet spot we where waiting for stragglers. Hope you had a great time anyways. It will be more organize next time from the beginning. See you on the next run.

Yeah, post #96 in this thread had a pretty detailed layout of the trip plans and it was never edited and that was what I was looking at before I left early Saturday morning to double check the meeting spot and itenerary.

I basically tried salvaging the trip by hitting a lot of the spots on the google docs itenerary hoping we'd run into everyone, or at least hear you guys on the ham radio. Only caught 1 transmission around lunch time that was breaking up, and didn't hear anything the rest of the day. We basically started at Gas Dome Trail round 11am and took Pole Line Road up to Arroyo Salada and worked our way up to the 5 palms area and back down around Pumpkin Patch and across the connector trail to shell Reef, then to the 78 and headed home since we didn't have a camping spot set in stone on the trip itenerary and the family was over it at that point to be honest.

Oh well, win some lose some! Lesson learned for sure. I need to get yours, Al's Miah's and Danny's phone number. I probably could've avoided the outcome on my end if I had some contacts in my phone. Middle of November is the gf's b-day so I might or might not make the November run.

Looked like you guys had a great time and just ahead of us. I'll pm you my contact. I tried to salvage what spartan started due to some members took time or reschedule to make this run. All in all fun weekend.

Are sections like this... just steep OR technical? Could stock 4WD without lockers make it?

This is an optional little obstacle at the end of calcite mine trail. The trail itself is pretty fun and doable without a locker with correct tire placement.
Pictures do not do that thing justice as to how steep it really is, then once you go down it you have to exit via a little water fall with several small ledges on it, also steep. Just ask [MENTION=133319]MACT4R[/MENTION] haha

Picture definitely doesn't do it justice. Even the video Miah posted. Not until I went down and out that really felt the full experience...LOL! The step up exit is pretty steep and requires clearance. You can do it without lockers with the right line and momentum. Lockers will definitely help. I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the awesome trip guys! We had a blast out there! It was great to meet some of you guys for the first time and nice to see the rest of you again. From Saturday and Sunday, I logged about 85 miles of offroading. Not too shabby!

Caroline still keeps talking about here new friend she made this weekend. [MENTION=140622]UnJeep[/MENTION] Glad to hear you guys made it home with no issues. I’m looking forward to wheeling with you guys again (without holes in the radiator).
