Oh a real bed?! How I miss having a truck with a bed.....looks like your buddy Greg has volunteered himself to pull firewood duty haha...now we can have a serious fire

I'll see what he can swing and what's got sitting around at the house. I pitched in with him and another guy last year when we did our first Joshua Tree meetup and we had wood for days. Pretty sure we left a hefty pile at the campsite.

Wondering the same thing. Miah mentioned he has a bonfire pit and I have one I could bring. I would think we'd want at least 2 with the size group we have, especially if we have to separate into 2 camping areas due to campsite space availability.

You don't need sliders anywhere in anza borrego. A stock 4x4 3rd gen could drive the entire park, even the drop offs (which aren't actually drop offs FYI). I've seen Suburu on most of the trails. Rocks .. not so much. It's a desert, not a mountain. Death Valley doesn't even require sliders.

You'll be good to go. Don't worry.

The girlfriend and I will be out there this weekend and may try to tag along with you guys or stop by and visit camp to say hello. I'm not sure where we plan on going and camping over the weekend yet out there. Just want to get away from the city.

I beg to differ that death valley doesn't require sliders. I used mine at least once somewhere (betting mengel pass because I don't remember hearing them hit and that was the worst we hit). I appreciate that you know a lot of these areas, but I'm willing to bet there are a lot of places that you haven't been recently and trail conditions change on the fly.

I'm sure it is possible to use them somewhere in death valley, but I've been all over (of course not everywhere) in DV and sliders are not a requirement. Great for piece of mind. Requirement .. no.

Just like they aren't a requirement for most of Moab except the harder trails, nor are they a must in Anza-B.

The real point I'm making is no one should skip out on a trip because they don't have sliders. It just isn't a requirement for 90+% of wheeling most people do here in SoCal. Instead just be careful, look up the trail ahead of time and don't go on the aggressive ones.

Now if we were talking Coral Canyon or Big Bear then sliders are much more of a suggestion but even in BB on most trails you still won't hit your sliders.

Here are the places I've been literally all over and never hit hard on my sliders:
* Death Valley
* Joshua Tree
* Anza-Borrego

There is a trend here. They are all mostly the same type of climate and terrain.

Both of our boys are out of school on Friday, so I'm going to work a half day and then we are heading out there. We are going to look for a spot at Blair Valley since it's so close to where we are meeting on Saturday morning.

That's me with ttora on their annual Anza run back in November. That trail was definitely tough, but tons of fun. Goes without saying that sliders are a must. That and a slight lift, decent tires.

Nice. What canyon is that? I assume it was optional right. The layout of AnzaB makes it so you can pretty much go anywhere and if there is an offshoot it can always be skipped. My buddy with a stock Tacoma still doesn't have sliders (although I told him it is the first mod to spend money on) and he's taken that truck on most of the same trips I've been on.

We'll be up there Friday night. Hoping between 8-9. Same area.

Route: DAY 1
From meet up spot head south approximately 34.7 miles to Canyon Sin Nombre road.
Canyon sin nombre >Vallecito Creek>Arroyo Tapidio> Find some of the mud caves

From there onto Arroyo Seco Del Diablo and down Diablo drop off into Fish Creek canyon system.
Explore the slot canyons, making time to stop for lunch, eventually setting up camp at the entrance of fish creek.

DAY 2
Exit Fish Creek via split mountain.

Travel to gas station in Borrego springs (approximately 26.6 miles)
Head up Coyote Canyon and explore a bit

Make our way to the Truckhaven obstacle course and tool around a little, maybe head into the truckhaven hills too.

Head home and sleep well.

A reminder that we are going to be flexible with schedule, routes, and campsites for this run. When there are this many vehicles things tend to take much longer than normal.

Anyone with cans should bring them as a just in case scenario. From the meet spot and all day until next opportunity to fuel up will be roughly 100 miles+/-. So factor that into how much fuel you will use to get to the meet up spot.

What to bring with you:
Good Attitude - This group is big with children attending...we'll need to be patient with each other especially during stops for attractions, lunch time etc.
Bring food, beverages (no alcohol consumption en route please)
Spare fluids for vehicle
Recovery gear if you have it.
Recovery point front and rear (factory hook is fine)
If camping bring your winter gear because it can get cold in the desert( who knew lol)

Are we gonna be camping/exploring on actual state park property or is it blm or a mix? Mainly Wondering about firearm regulations. BLM =pew all day, State Park = no pew(not even in vehicle)...im not neccessarily trying to target practice but i sleep better in the middle of nowhere with some protection[emoji2] [emoji85] [emoji123]

Almost entirely in the state park....we will see plenty of people especially near our campsite the area is popular....no need for a firearm for protection out there

I've got a metal tray that I've done plenty of fires on out there (an old bbq door). Will bring a few bundles, but can never have enough wood :flamethrwoer2:

I was thinking about that as well being that it's a 3day weekend for a lot of people. But you're right Al, like the song says MOVE B**** GET OUT THE WAY, GET OUT THE WAY!!!

But I must say, I like where they're meeting! Caramel Crumb Apple pie with a scoop of Vanilla, Anyone?
