The satellite imagery is outdated when compared to google if you are talking about that. I mostly use CalTopo. I can't remember how the app used to be, but now there is a choice between low and high resolution grid downloads. I always download high resolution and don't seem to have a problem with zooming in while offline. I'ved used it from SD all the way to mammoth and in Utah and the maps look to be well updated. I bought a year subscription last march so maybe different subscriptions allow for different resolutions allowed?

Most likely we will be filling up in borrego springs or the gas station on the corner of S22 and hwy86. It depends on where we end up camping which we will figure out on the fly.

Hahahaha!!! A few times for sure!!! Ocotillo and Truckhaven Hills are a freaking maze of washes, hills and canyons ...but they are so much damn fun it's a blast!!! it's like rats in a cage doing the maze test.
The one cool things is they all inner twine and connect back to one another multiple times it's a trip. It only gets tricky when your looking for a certain point of interest within the labyrinth of trails. There are no straight trails you go full compass every 5mins ..lol.
Which there are a couple special spots/ surprises I'm gonna take us to on Saturday (fingers crossed) which you guys should enjoy and offer ridiculous photo opportunities ...
1 of them will be right out the gate about 20-30 mins after we head out from our morning meet.
But out in Anza Borrego and Coyote Canyon area of the park those aren't a problem.

One other thing I would like to point out to all of you, some of you already know this and but some don't...
When we are out in Ocotillo Wells and Truckhaven Hills areas
We will be amongst all different types vehicles and a whole lot of people...flying around and haulin assss everywhere...
From off-road capable rigs like ourselves to dirt bikes, quads, razors, buggys, sand rails, mud trucks, home brew rigs, and yes many many Heeps!!
With that said there kids operating a few of these vehicles listed and as passengers with their families in these rigs..with that there are also many many idiots with no trail manors at all and are all about just flying around as fast as possible everywhere they go and there are drunken idiots doing what drunken idiots do as well...it's not like our normal runs out on trails and where we may only see a couple other rigs in a day if any. Here it's weird when you don't see someone...
So my point is just keep your eyes open stay alert to your surroundings so none of us or anyone gets hurt in anyway..cause we will be amongst some douchebags who just don't have common sense.
But with even with all that it is a whole lot of fun and the trails are a blast ..no other place like it..it's truly dirtopia of adult fun!!

That needed to be said, thanks. And with that hopefully we find a spot in a slot canyon so we can block it off from people riding into our camp or get our rigs in a roundabout circle , much safer

Also had that problem in Gorman. Couple kids from the camp up the hill from kept dusting my camp zipping through it. I ended up putting rocks down across the trail they were using after I told them twice to cut it out.

I was thinking of the same thing. I wanted to throw it out there as an option to camp together. Also, depends if my boys and I still have food to eat. HEHE!
I'm still toying the idea of leaving tonight just depends on getting my stuff together and where Miah/drunner ends up camping.

We'll be somewhere. hahahah. C'mon now, you know how this is gonna go. We're going to drive around until we find something nice and that's where we're gonna end up. Either you ditch your wife and come meet us at the casino or you drive around aimlessly trying to find a couple 4th gens in the dark with a big ass fire I plan on having. Unless one of us has service then we can get you coords, but I'm not banking on that.

7-8ish is my guess. Maybe sooner depending on traffic. I'm hoping my son's appointment is done by 4, then I'm meeting Miah at his house in Palm Desert. Not sure how long that drive is from there, but I'm guessing at least an hour or more. We'll be filling up at the Casino before we go looking for a campsite. I have to drive from Orange to Palm Desert in nearly rush hour traffic. Google has me at 2 hours right now and it isn't even rush hour yet. hahah.
