i have an 08 V6 and i had the new prop shaft installed by the dealer. it isnt necessarily a perfect fix, no.....BUT it has significantly reduced in frequency and how hard it clunks, as in its nearly disappeared. its definitely worth it if you can get it done

I recently bought the new version of the drive shaft (Toyota part # 37110-60A40) for my 2008 4runner SR5 V6 to eliminate the clunk when coming to a stop. From all of the forum posts on this subject it was supposed to be a direct replacement. Well I can tell you that it is NOT. The Lexus/Toyota part is 2.25" shorter than the original and when installed you have to slide it apart to make it fit. This allows a small bit of the splines show and therefore it is not inserted into the shaft seal. There is only about 1.5" of splined shaft actually inserted into the transmission side of the drive shaft in this position. This is a bad deal because the whole drive shaft could come apart if you were to go over a major bump where the suspension would drop. So, if anyone is considering doing this you need to think again. This drive shaft must be specific to the V8 4runner only. I am considering having the new drive shaft cut apart and a new tube welded in at a machine shop to make it fit as I can't return it. Don't believe everything you read!

is your truck 2wd? I i guess the 2wd and 4wd shafts are diff lengths.

The part number they used was 37110-60A40. TSB 0121-12.
Almost 9,000 miles and no clunk.
