ARB Question

Hey guys,

I'm seriously considering getting a front bumper and I'm leaning towards an ARB. I spotted one on the highway yesterday and it looked good. Contrary to popular belief it doesn't stick out that far and it's not as bulky as it appears in photos. I do have one question...has anyone removed the "wings" that are not present on the shrockworks? I've noticed they're bolted on the arb. Does anyone have any images without them installed?

Thanks

thats my thread - I've been doing some hardcore research. from my knowledge there istn a single photo on the internet that has no wings on it. the only thing i can get out of anyone is from Paul who owns Equipt. he claims it doesn't look any good, however i don't see how it would look any different than how the shrockworks looks or how the tacomas and FJs look since they don't have wings.

all that said, without the wings the washer bottle is exposed to damage and needs to have a skid fabricated for it

ya, I'm sure it's all about perspective when it comes to "looks". I feel as if it would look a lot better and resemble the newer tacoma arb. I need to look into it.

i feel the exact same way, ironically I've been prowling through your thread all day today for inspiration. looks like we have very similar tastes

Just ordered one Friday...when I go to do the install I'll take some pictures before I screw them on.

my personal thought on the wings...I believe they keep a lot of unwanted goop out of the engine bay.

I'll try and take pics from the same angles.

And a pic of what we're hiding.

I personally don't mind the "boat sides". If I were to do anything, I would 'flatten' out the wings. More so that they go straight back and then downward.

You're a badass. I owe you a beer. :clap2:

well! that was really fast. I'm sold. thanks a ton! i definitely know which direction I'm going to follow now

i owe you a beer!

one last request though! - could you measure and tell me the width of the opening where you have your SR's mounted? trying to see if my SR20 will fit there cleanly

It won't. There are two vertical plates behind the license plate. The SR6s barely fit.

Any other questions or pics, let me know now. I did it fast because I'm actually working on it right now.

I actually like the big kangaroo deflectors there. Suck, I had one of these new in box and tried for months to sell it on here... Ended up giving away for cheap. Now that I have a second 5th gen, I wish I still had the bumper.
