Are Toyota SUV's different?

Yup, it's rose colored glasses you're wearing. I can't wait to dump my 4Runner and will never buy another Toyota, as I've been to the dealer six times already and there's a whole bunch of things that still aren't right, or aren't designed right because Toyotas are designed by the marketing department, not the engineering department . In a year and 13k miles, I really can't say the 4Runner (when it runs) does anything better than our old '95 Explorer did, and it's a lot less comfortable, convenient, economical and FUN. Plus, the older 4Runners apparently killed more people than the older Explorers, but I don't know how that works with the '03s. (See Figure 3 in http://www.aceee.org/pubs/t021full.pdf )

Anyway, weren't there some recent Ford ads that claim the Explorer has the most repeat buyers of any SUV (I can't remember the exact claim)?? What about that?

I don't know about your 03 runner, but I've yet to have one problem with my rig. I have 15,000 miles on it, and it has given me more in fun that my old Heep, and Ford ever did. I will never buy another American car again. As a matter of fact I'm so impress with my runner that I'm buying a second one for my wife, this time a 2004 SR5 4x4.

Of course Explorers have the most repeat buyers, their fleet vehicles that rental car companies buy in the 100,000's year after year but Explorer sales have dropped:

The Exploder is so good Ford will pay you thousands to buy one. Then they will give you a zero interest loan. It's getting close the end of the 2004 model year and the rebates have been rolled out. Remember, the most is always the best. That's the message I get when Ford advertising says about the Exploder...."most popular SUV, ever".
