supporting parties is a big mistake. we should support candidates who have demonstrated alignment with our values. the parties just enable sellouts to hide in plain sight while enriching themselves and their cronies off the public teat.

An important quote from good ole' George, the founder of our country:
"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth."
-George Washington
And his take on political parties from his farewell address:
"They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests."

The biggest problem is that people do not take time to know who they are voting to assume that the party you vote for is the that has you values in mind is why we find ourselves in situation were we feel we are not being represented. Research! Learn! then vote. is what the pupblic needs to get in thier heads.

Good thread. I'm a conservative because I believe some of the change the liberals are implementing is going to lead us closer to a one-world style of government (starting with the UN gun laws). If you haven't heard of the NAU yet, it's time to become educated. In fact IMO, it is the only reason that makes sense to me why no one (liberals) in the federal government is doing their job and enforcing the laws we've had for decades regarding illegal immigration.

There used to be an old saying....hmm, what was it? Oh yeah, "Don't Tread On Me." I frickin love Arizona now. They realize it's not a race issue, but rather it's a "I don't owe you a damn thing" issue. There are millions and millions of Mexican American families that are assets to this country because they are Americans first and foremost. The Americans that immigrated legally (and also the ones who are in the process/waiting) don't feel it's very fair that others don't have to follow the same rules.

Guns? Our liberal leaders must be out of their minds to think that criminals follow the laws. How can anybody think that denying the citizens the right to protect their own lives is going to make them safer against shithead criminals who could care less about our laws - and definitely won't be running to turn their non-serialized guns in. If someone feels that having a gun is unsafe in their house, then they don't have to buy one. In my house, I'll decide what is safe.

Just because we have had a two-party system historically since 1800 doesn't mean we need to keep it that way.

x2. I'm registered American Independent, but I'm like the only one I know.

A conservative living in the land of the fruits and nuts (CA).

Haha, you got it! I'm optimistic that people are getting wise to this crap in CA though. I haven't seen one commercial for a Democrat candidate for Governer, but I've seen hundreds for the 2 Republicans. The Demos have no chance at all this year.

It's the primary election and Brown pretty much ran unopposed, so he's saving up his coin for advertising when general election comes around.

Silly guy, he didn't do anything the last time he was governor, but he thinks he'll make a difference this time around? Please.

The laws of the individual states have been written ( by the two parties ) to keep 3rd parties out.

They take it a step further on the gerrymandering to keep themselves in power.

Pity the 3rd party guy who gets elected to any position. Who will he team with ?

How about the American people... the ones the other two parties are suppose to be representing...

I'm a left wing, tree hugging, bleeding heart 16 year USMC veteran liberal. Go figure that one out. :flipoff:

Actually I just take whatever view is best supported by the available evidence and reason. That is almost always the view held by the left.

It's also what is demanded by a democracy. Democracy depends on informed consent. The tacit "uninformed" consent most voters give to their party is the reason we have a dysfunctional democracy, or representative republic, as it were. Republicans love it this way, because if anyone actually knew the facts in this country the Republican party would quickly cease to exist. They depend on ignorance and fear to keep them in office.

The onus lies with the voter, not the party. Imo, the best way to stay informed is to stop watching the news and read it instead.

If so many people claim to be conservative, why then do the radical liberals have control?

Be sure to get out and vote against the liberals. They want power and have found it by getting the zero liability voter to vote for them. Is it any surprise the Feds won't protect our borders from illegals? Today's illegal alien is tomorrows zero liability voter and recipient of our tax dollars.

Remember when America was about opportunity and not handouts?

It's refreshing to see how many level-headed people there are on this forum.

I can't even begin to get into why this country is a disaster on many levels.... on it's way to being a worse disaster... but it goes way beyond current politics, politicians and party lines.

Natural Law, the Constitution, our Founding Fathers, world banking, European government, global media, communism, capitalism, secret societies...the list goes on.....but those are just a few of things that have to be thoroughly researched and understood before any of our current situation can be made sense of.

Here's a couple quotes that I agree with strongly:

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." -Adrian Rogers

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." -Marcus Tullius Cicero 44 BC

"There is no greater tyranny, than that which is perpetrated under the shield of law and in the name of justice.” -Montesquieu

PS. BTW....I own lots of guns. :peace:

The exact same thing could be said about Democrats. Just depends on your point of view. Actually, by stating that.....you solidified the fact that you are ignorant and fearful yourself. Anytime you say, "the other side is all wrong, and they don't know the facts".....you are basically saying, "I have no clue what is going on".

I'm Libertarian myself. No elephants or ass's for me. My 4runner gets me around just fine. :bigok:

CONSERVATIVE LIBERATARIAN! SMALLER GOVERMENT!

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
-Thomas Jefferson

Wtf

BTW... The United Stated is a Republic, not a Democracy! Do you even know the difference?

A Libertarian is generally not considered liberal or conservative unless discussing specifics. Conservative in economic issues or liberal in social issues would more accurately describe a libertarian. Although I agree that the government should be smaller.

I personally cannot support a president or an administration that willingly disrespects the thousands of families that lost their loved ones in 9/11 by supporting the building of a Islamic mosque at ground zero. Well why not just make a Nazi memorial at Auschwitz? Or a Japanese Imperial Navy memorial at Pearl Harbor? Oh, I'm sorry, was that not politically correct? It's the same kind of disrespect as far as I'm concerned and disgracing our citizens like that is unforgivable. Try putting a cross on a hillside in CA. That's offensive, but a f**king mosque at gound zero isn't?

If Obama's administration is "transparent", then I'm Oprah Winfrey.
