I finally got around to installing (most the way) my CB radio. With the assistance of been ( [MENTION=88576]smkd13[/MENTION] ).
Okay, okay, he did most of it. I really just tore apart the interior and put it back together.
CB SPECS:
Uniden Pro-520XL CB Radio
18' Belden Coax cable
4' Firefly Firestic(black to match truck)
I decided to do the easy thing and ditch the ash tray as i have no need for it.
I just used the mount it came with on the passenger side too keep the wire out of the way.
We ran the coax cable through the middle console down the passenger side. I used an Insane Fabrication antenna mount from [MENTION=57447]Toy[/MENTION]tec
It fits but barely clears the rear hatch with a little modification (a big hammer)
And a final pic
I also ziptied the top to keep the cover on. I'll be getting a white ziptie just to keep with the black white theme.
On a side note, i took passenger seat out to run the cable and decided i may or may not keep it out for moab. My plan is to create a wooden mount that will attach to the factory seat bolts here:
I will create a small platform just level with the rear heater, then raise the dudes to fit a cooler for the road trip, and of course, make a place or two for a real mans cup holder. I guess we'll see how that works!

Small updates:
1. Got my new head unit in. I went with an Alpine CDE-HD 148BT. So far I love it. Usb, Ipod, Aux, BT audio, BT phone. The music quality is slightly better with a more crisp sound. I love it and would recommend it to anybody.
2. I removed my front sway bar for Moab but i decided not to put it back on. The Icons up front remove most the sway and the body roll is not bad. I've loved it on and off the road. Of course i'm keeping it just in case for the future.
3. [MENTION=88576]smkd13[/MENTION] finally persuaded me to "trim" my exhaust, we cut the tip back under the body so it doesn't get caught offroad on a rock or anything. Its at the perfect angle so it hits none of the body, frame, or tire. It just shoots straight back. I'm keeping the tip so I can clamp it back on to pass safety and emissions.
I've done more early on in the year than I expected and i'll be able to give the runner more money. I don't really know what else to be her next. Any ideas?

So after a lot of thought, research, PMs, phone calls, and lots of time spent, looks like I'm getting a rear bumper :llama:
Also, over I took my dad wheeling yesterday for the 4th. I ran Forest Lake up American Fork Canyon. It's a relatively easy trail, but with some fun, semi-technical lines. At one point, I put my gas tank skid to use, and with that came this:
Bent the skid just enough to nail my driveshaft when I flex out the rear. It was easily solved with a small hammer �� though a gas tank skid is in my future. Suggestions welcome, though I'll probably go with lil skips gas tank skid. Now pics from yesterday and the meet and greet [MENTION=88576]smkd13[/MENTION] put together a couple weeks back.
Trail ride with a few FJs, Tacoma, some 1st gen t4rs, and a sick FJ40 owned by Kurt, the owner of Cruiser Outfitters.

The lake is actually home to this guys, specific to only a few locations in the US.
The white FJ featured on the right was actually driven by a guy in a wheelchair. Super badass guy and rig! It was full hand controls so he could drive it! It was really cool talking to him!
And yup. Lots of updates coming soon! Also ordered some anzo headlight assemblies! Should be a good month!

Kinda a verbal update, but a biggie! My rear bumper is at long last being shipped! Only took a month and a half :doh: So that will be painted and installed hopefully within a week. Also, took the rear bumper off, painted the undersides to blend better(picture will come with bumper install). I installed and aimed the anzo headlight displays and I love them. They really blend in with the rest of the black/white scheme of the truck!
Also, Toying with the idea of an ARB locker in the front. I figure, onboard air and a front locker. Two birds, one stone, ya know? Not set in stone. Just kind of a thought. Guess we'll see. Update and picture to come within the week!

This showed up on my door step. I Got it all sanded, cleaned, and primed, just to keep it from getting worse, but won't have time until later in the week to paint and install it.
I did get out wheeling again, I went with two guys from our toyota Facebook group. We went to Little Moab. An FJ and a Tacoma. Didn't get many pictures. Hopefully they post some up as well.

Cool video. I need to get my sliders welded on some day...
For the tire carrier: make sure you put a dab of loctite on the thread to the retaining pin or whatever it's called. The spring loaded pin that keeps the carrier from swinging all the way out. My plastic ball fell off on the freeway the first weekend I had it, and CBI wanted like $22 to replace it.

Thanks for the advice! I'm installing it on Wednesday after a long wait so I'll be sure to stop by autozone and get some tomorrow. What did you use as far as lubricant goes for the spindle?
Haha. Both you and [MENTION=49649]KidVermicious[/MENTION] ! We'll all get out soon. I definitely want to head out there again. I had a blast and definitely want to do some harder lines.

I did not use anything, yet. Apparently the brass pieces are "impregnanted" with lubricant... After my week long off-road trip though, it's starting to get kinda tough to open/close. Not sure what I'll use yet.

Those are bronze oilite bushings, no extra lubricant is needed. The more you use the swing arm the easier it gets to open and close, you want that spindle to stay as tight as possible. Dont introduce another lubricant that is going to grab and hold dirt and grit in there accelerating wear.

Yeah, I don't know how long the front will last. I'll beat it up and sell it but I don't know if I like how it attaches to the frame. I may end up going with the AOR tube front or make a custom front bumper. All in due time.:juggle:

Well, I have good news and bad news
The good:
The bumper is here, and field tested.
It's safe to say I get to trim my fenders. I'll most likely follow what [MENTION=34852]crazydubman[/MENTION] did so I can keep my flares
The bad:
I'm actually very lucky. ITS NOT A BALLJOINT!
What happened was the bolts that attach to the spindle went a funk. 1 was missing, the other 3 broke. Luckily I was going 5 mph at the time. There is no body damage, and as far as I can tell, no other damage, though I'll inspect it more tomorrow. I was very lucky as I was on the edge of a small cliff as well.... Nobody was hurt. I had to leave the truck in the middle of the trail... I ran 3 miles down the canyon until I could hitch a ride to the base where I called Ben. He came up and we piggybacked it down 100ft and sadly had to leave it for the night.
I'll end it with something nice

I went back up this morning and she was still all good
I'm glad I have locker lugs and I put my now ruined tire in the hatch under the cover. Think a warranty will cover this? :lol:

Thanks Kevin. I think I have it all figured out. I'm getting her towed in the morning so I can tap the bolts and replace them. After that, warranty the tire
