As promised, trip report:
The trip started really well. Short story is 1 3rd gen, 2 1st gens, 1 tacoma, 3 80s pickups, and 1 broken jeep.
3 rollovers, 2 different vehicles, and a very good time.
So myself and several other rigs headed up rattlesnake and constrictor near 5 mile pass. The first major obstacle was a very tight squeeze in a rock garden. Of course, the cages pickup, flew through, but the jeep tried to follow. That didn't work it to well, and, I'll let the pictures do the talking.
He broke down and quickly turned back after we fixed it.
On that same obstacle, the 1st gen runner to his turn. He tried to take the "impossible line". We have never seen it done, but you have to mount the wall and take your front end around the Boulder, and brig the read end over, hopefully without rolling. If not for his crossmember, he would have made it
I went through the tight squeeze line, though quickly backtracked. I could have easily made it, however, I would have need some new passenger doors.... Along the way I had to get some posers and group shots
The next obstacle is a small climb with multiple ledges. Only the 1st gen made it up, the next closest one had his first flop/roll. Unfortunately I didn't get the flop on video, but my buddy did so I'll get that and post it soon.
After the flip:
He ended up doing a 3/4 roll from the top of the ledge. The toolbar in the back and his lightbar saved the truck. No major damage. He had some damage to the fenders and shattered his windshield.
The runner than made it up with a little effort.
Again, I attempted, but after one flop on the climb, no front locker, and the fact that everybody I wheel with has a SFA and 37s, I decided to take the bypass after starting to hop on my way up.
The path to the next obstacle is a small hill climb with amazing scenery.
When we arrived at Wayne's World, Austin jumped right in. After many attempts to get up the first muddy ledge, we piled some rocks and got him up. With how wet it was, we ended up pulling him up the second half.
Another group shot below Wayne's World where we grilled on the trail
At that point, the runner went for it. After flopping twice, being pushed, pulled, and I literally mean we had 8 guys pull him up with a tow strap by hand, he finally made it up.
My buddies pickup (bobbed, dovetailed, caged, on 1 tons) made quick work of it, twice, literally walking up it....
At this point, 8 hours passed and we turned around. At this point I learned I own a multi-purpose rock-crawle/prerunner because apparently, I was hauling down the fire roads and was getting air, so that was cool.
All in all, it was a good day. No injuries, good times, with good people.
