ATTN: Lifted

Falls

I know it's a resale killer , but how's the drivability , parts wear , reliability been for you ??

Would you drive it across country , go off road and drive it back ?? Are you confident in your truck (ESPECIALLY THE LIFT PART OF THINGS)??

Would you do anything different as far as your lift ?

I haven't lifted my 4-Runner yet but the kit is on the way. I've lifted and lowered plenty of other vehicles. The key here is to go with the highest quality components. It never ceases to amaze me when someone spends $35K on a new ride and then throws a crap suspension system up under it to get a lift/or lower. Do it right, be thorough, and avoid cutting corners. Remember, if you want to drive this thing for years and years and get miles of trouble free service, you need to build a balanced and proper suspension system. Built it right and you'll be stoked.

Besides that, keep your parts and go back to stock if you want to sell. You can just sell the lift kit here and make back a significant portion of your money.

Although I am a vendor, I also have used many different lifts on my truck. (04 V8)

I have used a Daystar spacer lift, OME lift and now our Overland Warehouse lift.

In all cases, yes to all your questions.

Nothing I would necessarily do differently but I am kind of hankering for a long travel kit but not sure I want to go there on a daily driver.

I think the one thing I will try next is remote resis front and rear as i have been driving faster more regularly offroad since getting full coilovers. I carry a lot of stuff when away and I think there would be some benefit in remote resis sometimes (although admittedly not often)

Also probably should have gone to aftermarket UCA's earlier but wanted to test out how far I could push the stock ones lol.

I would also mention that I am still very happy with my Body Lift (1.5").

I think it's possible with a lift I have been thru a few CV's quicker than if I had been stock. I broke one, and have had two leak boots. The one that broke was while wheeling on full steering lock with diff lock on so don't think that had anything directly to do with a lift.

Reliability - no problem with a lift. More concerned with blowing a rear diff while offroading or blowing a CV than any failure of a lift per se.

all good

I use my truck off-road frequently, east texas has a lot of hills and muddy clay, west of Auston it's really rocky hills. Almost everytime I go I am towing a 3000# trailer down the highway and off-road. I installed the suspension kit almost immediately, because the first time I took it offroad I was smacking the skids all over the place. For me towing off-road in rocky hills in stock condition wasn't going to work. I felt that I would damage something in short order. I don't feel like I gave up anything installing the lift (except a little milage), the ride and handling are fine. Previous post is correct, you should install a decent quality lift.

Thank you all for the info.

I am looking at the Med duty OW kit myself , but because of cost that maybe be a little bit down the road , but want some lift and I do have a DS 6pc spacer kit here I may throw on in the mean time. not sure though.

I have had no problems with the lift or anything related to the lift. I agree if you do quality parts and get the type of lift that suits your needs and not what everybody else is doing you will be just fine. When you go to sell it take the lift off and nobody will ever know. Good luck with your choice.
