Hi, I am a Newbie. It's regarding a 90 4Runner 4X4 with auto trans. On the center console, in the shifter area there sets a plastic piece that is secured to the floor by 4 scews and in order to remove this piece the shifting handles need to be removed. I have removed 2 screws on the shifter and the handle comes off but still attached to the cable. There is what appears to be a plastic 'key' if removed, would detach the handle from the cable; however, I don't want to do anything that would make reassembling difficult so thought I would check with member(s) for advice. Any input, suggestions appreciated.
