AVN-5500 for non JBL 4Runner.

I am browsing E-Bay for older AVN units. Anyone one can confirm that AVN-5500 will be plug in play in non JBL 4Runner..?
Also if anyone has any comments (positive and negative) on AVN-5500 please chime in.

i can confirm, i have the avn5500 and a 2004 sport edition. its directly plug and play, just tap speed wire, reverse wire, (and ground the parking brake wire if u wanna watch dvds while driving or inputting address while moving).

not to thread jack - but if u find a copy of the MDV11D navi disc for the avn5500 let me know !!

2011 is the last year they're making dvd discs for these navi's
