My GPS antenna for my AVN5435 is just hanging out in the crack of my dash. I used that piece of metal so the magnet on the antenna would stick to it.

I was thinking about someone securing it, but I don't think there is even a need to do this.

I wired the GPS antenna out the center channel speaker opening (after removing the near-useless speaker) and just over the the driver side corner of the dash.

No problems whatsoever picking up the satellites. GPS works great with the AVN5435.

i have the avn5500 with the new v1.3 2006 map dvd anyone want a copy ??? lol jk dunno what it will work on tho. where did you guys mount the eclipse antena ? im having a hard time getting a signal. i put mine all the way as far back as i could in between the air ducts. also whats the secret menu commands ?

BTW i mount my antenna on top rear of the truck but not top of the hatch door is on the roof edge toward the front of it.hope this will work for you.

hey all ... im still tryin to make a copy. i got a hold of a DL burner and im using nero to do a 1 to 1 copy but durring the burning stage, it only burns the first layer ?????????? wasted a couple of expensive discs :-(

I have copied my disk with the latest version of Nero 6 and also with Nero 7.

In fact I just traded in my truck with the burned copy in the drive.

Make sure Nero info tool shows the drive as DL. I also used Verbatim disks.

So it sounds like a burnt DVD-DL disc will work with the AVN5500. But will the AVN5500 DVD (burnt or not) work with the AVN5435? Anyone tried this?

i burnt my old map disc with roxio disc copier it took a long time(dvd+dl 2.4x) but it work, i got the roxio if you want it just PM me.

whats up guys, couple of questios. What is the sequence for the secret diagnostic screen and has anybody had problems with speed pulse sensor?

I hooked mine up following what is shown in this link http://www.norgetech.com/navsup.htm

But I always get a "check speed pulse" mesaage when I go into the nav screen.

Press the info button on the right hand side of the screen, then go into System Check. The Speed pulse should stay "studying" and it should show the current speed. Otherwise it's not making contact with the violet / red speed sense wire in the 4R.
