Awaiting my Limited...bored...quick question regarding Eco Mode

I searched, and found references to the ability to switch off the Eco Mode light. I would just like to confirm...Can you switch off the Eco Mode light? Honestly, I searched.

Yes, you can. Honestly it isn't as annoying as I thought it would be and I actually use it to get better mpg.

agree 100% with above post. the light isn't very bright, and you don't notice it unless looking for it.

Or you can hold down the little trip button (once you find it) until you get to the eco screen, press and hold will toggle it off and on.

I agree it's really not that bad. In fact I sort have made a game out of it to see how often I can stay in the eco mode. I once got 24.5mpg on a highway trip by doing this.

That's the preferred method - personally, I like holding down the gas pedal to keep the light off - who needs to go green anyway?

lmao! Man I didn't even think of it that way; but yeah that green light helps you get better MPG in theory but it's just to damn hard because if you stay within the green light, it feels like your moving soo slow! that or I have a lead foot.

As someone fore-mentioned, yes it can be turned off.

You should probably just go to the dealer, look at a car, download the manual and learn your away around it. Then come to the forum and people will help you out when you get stuck :girl:

You beat me to it! I was going to say all you need to do is breathe on the gas pedal. You have to accelerate like you're asleep to keep the thing on. :lmao:

It is useful for making you think about gas mileage though. I like to keep the Fuel Consumption screen on the Nav as well (since it won't stay on the audio screen) and see long I can keep the average above 20.

We turned off the ECO light. I found it to be annoying and distracting. Neither my wife nor I like having lights on the dashboard turn on and off.

The other thing I noticed about having the ECO on when I was driving was that I was actually get worse gas mileage! I think the ECO has something to do with what gears you use.

I tend to have a leadfoot so I think it was trying to stay in "more efficient" gears, while I'm flooring the gas. I turned it off and got better mileage. However, when off you can watch the bar to give you an idea of fuel usage. I also have the auto shifter, which I use a lot when getting on highways in order to hit highspeed asap!
