I was thinking the same thing - we need to head north!
A few years ago I went with a group and camped near Happy Jack & Clints Well. One day we went to check out some very remote cabins that are like time capsules - they were all locked up but no signs of vandalism or anything - it was amazing! Then on the way back we stopped to check out Potato Lake. The next day we took another back road to Blue Ridge Reservoir and we did some kayaking, hiking, swimming - then headed home. I'm trying to see if I can find those cabins again. But even if I don't there is plenty of awesome things do to and see up in that area.

I have been wanting to do some camping it been a long while since i have been camping. Im down i would just need to plan f or it so i can get a saturday off.

I'll be available to go just about any weekend after July 20 - doing some more renovations to my house between now and then - but I can still get away on a Saturday or Sunday for a day trip - except July 18/19.

There is a 30-50 mile service road loop that goes around Blue Ridge and along the rim I believe. Dispersed camping all along it. Doubt the fire service roads are too tough but I think that one "secret" trail coder was talking about isn't too far.
Sometime this summer I think I'm going to check out the east fork of the black river south of Alpine. Some fellas at work said its amazing there and the fishing is great...just got to be ready to box with a bear or two.

If you're talking about Rim Road (FS 300) that runs the length of the Rim, then yes, it's not difficult at all. With our rigs, you should be able to manage 35-40 mph the entire way. 
The "secret" trail (Payete Draw) is actually below the rim north of Payson.
Black River is some pretty country and the fishing can be fun. Get a reservation permit and follow it down to the Salt River then you're into smallmouth bass... Bring potent bear medicine. I've found 300 grain hollow points to be efficient.

The cinders looks like a fun place to do camp trip to. Bathtub tank looks cool as well.

What's that old John Candy movie where all a 12ga did was give the bear a bald spot on its head.... your comment just reminded me of that :lol:
Just run the bear over with your 4runner.

The Cinders is awesome. The club I run with (offroad passport) does an annual trip up there every September. We camp at Sunset Crater campgrounds then spend 1 day doing a trail run away from that area, then the next day we spend the day at the Cinders OHV park, then the 3rd day we just relax, do some raffles, play some games, break camp and head home. Its a great time! We should consider going! We can take a trail to the top of one of the volcano cones and drive into it - so fun!
