Baby's got New Shoes!

I've driven on three sets of BFGs and they don't compare to my Nittos on dry,wet or snow packed/icy roads and the cost of the BFGs was almost $200 more out the door.
BFGs rock off road but for a DD their a bit much and at about 30k the tread becomes very hard and loses even more dry grip. BFGs look the best of about any tire but they are far from perfect once you leave the dirt.
BFGs also suffer from resistance to hydroplaning at highway speeds and you can tell by looking at the treads which offer no clear channels to evacuate water.

I see so many BFGs slapped on mommy's Tahoe/Expedition which IMO is a rediculous waste of money IMO just to have the "look".

I don't think the Revo's are bad at all and personally I would'nt worry about a snow flake. thing , it's kind of a marketing thing. I really don't know but the BFG has a tread depth that seem's twice as deep as the Revo ( at least in my eye's)

Most KOs are 16/32" or 17/32" tread depth.

The Passenger Revos are 13/32". The LTs are 16/32" or 17/32".

I like the 265/70/17 LT Revos. But they are heavy, 46 lbs, Load range E (10 ply) tire.

The 265/70/17 KOs are 44 lbs, Load range C (6 ply).

I've read some negative reviews about KOs wet performance and resistance to hydroplaning.

Your view of the KOs is abundantly and frequently clear. But is this the right thread?

BFG is probably the BEST all-terrain tire of the big brandnames when it comes to off-roading. Of course, they have their disadvantages once you leave the dirt...IF you compare them to mud-terrains. However, when comparing all-terrains, BFG AT KO is simply the most capable one out there (again, among the big brands).

Nittos & REVOs are not perfect either...they may be better than BFG AT KO in some aspects while losing in others. All of these tires will have plus and minus features...it all comes down to your driving style and road preference.

I always hear about BFG AT KO hydroplaning potential, but i have not read of one person actually experiencing it and having an accident. I do NOT think that you can just "look at the treads" to decide anything. Nowadays, there are computer simulation up the whazzoo in designing treads. Tread void area?? Siping?? Tread block design?? etc.

For example, Michelin LTX M/S or Michelin CrossTerrains does not have obvious water channels but they are pretty darn good in wet weather. My Michelin X-Radial on my Corolla does not have water channels, but it does really well in wet weather and hydroplane resistance. Now, if you look at Goodyear Aquatread tires, they suck when compared with Michelins. So, as you can see, there is more than meets the eye.:)

With 80,000 miles on my stock Michelin's, I'm still trying to decide on replacements. Currently trying to decide between BFG AT's which I have on my families other two 4x4 DD's, and Nitto's which I've never had. Price is a serious consideration since I'm high mileage, and the Nitto's are considerably cheaper. BTW, I can

I read through your old post on the other forum and wasn't at all discouraged with your Nitto experience.

Off road tires get noisier with wear. The deep openings between the tread on new tires lets air escape making the tires quieter. As the tread wears down the air can

I've had many sets of BFG At and have never had a problem with Hydro.

I did notice that on my Ford Exploder they seemed to ride real harsh after I had like 40k + on them.

Tonite I was trying to climb a hill with 12" of snow on it. I was playing on the hill with the 4wd system , the Revos I have on with only 16k miles did get me up the hill but was trying different things like stopping half way up and starting again , the Revo tire just does not have the bite to do it without alot of effort and wheel spin and snow flying everywhere with the center diff locked. Really had to lay into the go pedal hard.

That looks bad ass. I wonder if a 1 1/2" cornfed spacer lift would make it look a little more even? Nice ride

Snap, Your T4R looks great. So, you put a 1" spacer on the front of your ride? Did that come from Cornfed? I'm asking because I've tried Burtman's website and can't find the 1" spacer. I'm wanting to order it, where ever it came from.

Would appreciate any help you can give me.

Email him directly. It is a custom order. Hes a real nice guy and easy to work with.

Just email Jason at Burtmanindustries and he can order them for you I believe it is $159.00 shipped. I am thinking of getting a 1 1/2" spacer for the front but I don't no if that will be to high. What do you guys think? Thanks

The 1 1/2" Spacer does seem like it might be a better idea. Have you been able to verify that he's making those as well? Also, I was reading around on here last night and found a picture of somebody who had measured the distance between the tire and front fender as well as the back and I thought that it showed the front at 2 1/2" and the rear at 5 1/2". Obviously that means the rear of the T4R is 3" higher. If that was on a stock T4R, then a 1 1/2 spacer would be nicer to help even it out.

I can't find the page that had the photo but I believe that is all accurate.

I dont think it would be. Even after the 3"/2" Cornfed lift installed I still have exactly 1/2" of rake from back to front. This is measured from the rear of the running board to the front of the running board.

Yes Jason can get them I emailed him yesterday and he said it would be $159 shipped for a 1 1/2" cornfed front spacer.

Well, knowing that, I'm probalby going to order the spacers too. I wish somebody had already installed the 1 1/2" spacer so that we could see some photos of it. I just don't want to get that installed and end up with a pre-runner look where the truck is pointing towards the sky instead of towards the ground...

Did Jason say how he prefers to get paid? Card, check, money order....?
