Back Window Gave Out.. HELP !!!

I know it was bound to happen, so here goes.

I was rolling into work this morning in the runner "1994 SR5 4WD 4Clyn Auto", and i use my switch in the center console to lower the rear window, then boom... the window goes down about 1 inch, slightly cocked to one side. Here's what i found through the quick troublshooting i did in the parking lot;

-There is power going to the motor in rear window, as i can hear the motor turning, but nothing is happening.

-I can move the window by hand, up or down, just by pushing on it with the palms of my hands "the window is free as a bird", and about halfway down, it starts to bottom out or grind on somthing, so i returned it to the up position.

I know there is an arm that rides on a track, that moves the window up or down via the motor "which works" and i'm leaning towards that... but guys/gals i realy need a fix on this as it's my primary vehicle... and i love the back end being able to open up.

Any links for specific parts/instructions, please help me out by posting them for me, when i get to work on this i will take pic's all the way so i can post them, and give somthing back to the forum.

Thanks Everyone....

a similar thing happened to my 4runner a couple weeks ago. there are two rails that the window moves on and one of them is probably rusted through, broken, or the arm just came off the rail. mine was rusted and would only go up and not go down well because it had nothing to pull down on with the one side. the interior pannels are pretty easy to take off so i would have a look in there and youll see if that is the problem right away.
hope this helps

yup the track is broken in half, rusted through, here's some pic's of what i found.

How did you fix yours? Can you order just that track?

Yes the parts are on ebay every now and then but people know they have you by the nards and want 40+ dollars for them. Oh yeah then shipping. They are very easy to replace and you just use whindshield sealant and let dry. My advise would be go to a junk yard. Even if a runner looks like it may be missing the rear window check because it may be smashed but the track will usually still be in the tailgate. I treated mine with por 15 paint so they won't rust anymore

i figured that was what happened...

on mine, when i replaced the tailgate, the new one from a parts car had the bad track on the window so i just took that one out and put the old glass into the new tailgate.

do you need just one of the tracks or do you need both? because i still have the glass with the broken one and the other is still good and if you want to pay a couple bucks and the shipping, you can have it. its small so it shouldnt be that much to ship. pm me if you want it.

Thanks for the offer but I don't need it. I actually have a spare rear window as well. I would personally keep the part. It's a pretty hard one to get aparently
