I will attempt it tomorrow when there is sun light..

is kinda of dark here in Cali.

I might go for a pair of led's..

Try going to the Lexus dealership. My 2000 GS400 needed some lights in the switches replaced and they sold them all seperately. The bulbs in the seat heater switches look real similar to the ones you have. You can also buy the green covers that go over the bulbs seperately.
 
I took a pictures of it at night. Kind of S**tty pic but you can see that the led rear window switch is brighter then the ECT ones. It's a shade of green off from a normal filament bulb but still pretty good.

when you take that strip out that has you ECT button and rear window. you can actally take that cover off to exopse the circut board and it makes taking those bulbs out a lot easier as well as putting the new LED's in. You can still plug it in and make sure they all work before you put it all back together. some of those NEo-Wedge lights are Poly-something which makes it so they only work when you put them in one way. Autolumination will tell you which sizeyou need i think its (type A) but dont order from there though, get them from superbright LED's or another site I still have a few from autolumination that still work and its been almost 2 years, but i had those two (ECT and rear window) burn out on me within a year. here is a pic of mine all on

Your talking about Polarized and Non-Polarized bulbs.
LEDs are usually polarized. If they don't work one way, flip them and try again.

how much did it ran you for the defroster, ect and back window switch ?

I got quoted about $8 dollars a bulb and apparently, they don't have a replacement bulb for the window and must order a new switch.. wtf?

I'm not trying to be a wise A** ( just want to get the right info out there) but that's what I said in one of my first posts. (post#4) The Rear window switch bulb is NOT serviced separately, you have to buy the whole switch. That's why I bought just a LED bulb for the rear window switch. I wasn't going to pony up about 45.00 for a switch just so it could light up.
But the ECT bulb IS serviced separately. That only cost me about 5-6 bucks at the dealer.

Thats stupid expensive for that part! hence its called the stealership! lol
As for the neo wedges i think they were like $2.99 a bulb (online). There are only 2 bulbs that go into the strip. One splits the light into the defrost and ECT and then there is one that lights up the rear window button. They are Type A (t3)
the type B's go in your cimate contol. Now when you get them, someone already mentioned this, but the LED's are a little bigger but they will fit and work i didn't have to modify the bulb i just had to take that stip thing completly apart amd get it in there

you will need 3 #24’s for the dash
#74's for the key ring, and shifter
2 Neo wedges type A, (t3) (Buttons)
3 type B (t4) (climate control)

the ring around the cigarette lighter, that is suppose to be illuminated correct?

also, the hazards are suppose to be light up too correct? cause mine isn't illuminated and i don't know if it was or not.

I would do another thread but rather not jack up more servers space and just use my existing thread.

if they are illuminated, what size bulb would it be for both?

Yes, they are suppose to light. I just went thru my 2001 with all the little switch lights. The bulb for Cig lighter ring is not serviced separate, You have to buy the whole ring. Its not too expensive. Yes, the hazards switch is illuminated. You can buy the bulb separate. Just take the old bulb out and bring to dealer, They should be able to match it up with 1.
 
dang man you got all kinds of lights and things going out thats gotta be frustrating! Im not sure on the hazard light button bulb, but it's probably a neo wedge type A (considering the size) the center diff lock button is supposed to illuminate too and that is a Neo Wedge Type A As for the cig ring i just used the light that is supposed to light up the ashtray and moved it over to the cig ring. and it worked perfect!
Now for your a/c button when you say its broken is it just the bulb? or is it just not doing anything? cause if its just the bulb the light that illuminates your temp control (the center one) is the same bulb that lights up your temp knob.
those switches are probably expensive! i would just get the bulbs you would probably save around $40+ to spend on something cool for the Runner I bought two sets of lights to replace all the main ones and the first time i paid like $30 for all the lights and the backup set i only paid around $23 and superbright LED's.

is been a pretty stressful week, nothing went well. I went from back window switch to defroster to ECU and now the ac switch.

the worse part is, the ac switch snapped off completely. I have to buy a new one to replace it..

Got a question,

would you mind pm me the website and the lightbulb size for the the console?

My back window lights up, but the defrost and ECT buttons don't. Might go in today and grab a bulb.

I too hate that. Sort of a pet peeve for me. I need all the lights on my dash to work or it doesn't look right.
Just sucks that most of the bulbs aren't easy to figure out.
