right now I am getting 10 city and 12 highway. it should be getting about 16 and 19. I dont have any idea why. the engine is very smooth, the RPM dont run high. I do need to get it fixed with gas prices being what they are.

What could be the problem?

oversized tires??? using air conditioning excessively??? clogged injectors??? snow/studded tires??? uninflated/overinflated tires??? braking and accelerating excessively???

no indicator lights are on. its an AT that is shifting fine(just had the fluid flushed. I would say i am taking it easy on the gas peddle.l i think the tires are 31 inches.
an example: i just drove it des moines from MPLS this weekend. its about 240 mile drive and I couldnt make it on one tank.

the tires wouldnt be causing your bad mpg, they are stock size and not very aggresive. when you get your tuneup, ask for a fuel line cleanout. they put a chemical in the tank and it dissolves/burns all the gunk a buildup in the system.

Bad MPG

I was getting the same, car ran great when warm, timing mark was right on, just passed smog, I checked the TDC to TDC on the Rotor and it was off 1 notch, that sovled my bad MPG and now it's much better on the highway and city. Timing is on, Dist sit correctly. I guess when they did the head gasket, the idiot monkey wrencher at the dealer put the distributer in wrong. I thought it was not possible at one notch but only 180 degrees but my bad.

I noticed the Dist was almost fulled cocked to one side (that was not normal for that car), but the timing was pretty close. . now it almost in the middle of the adjusment bolt for the dist. and the timing is right on.

Yea do a tune up... Stuff like that always helps Oil change Air filter Spark Plugs Wires Fuel Filter Check Tire Psi. I noticed I lose alot of Mpg because my rim is bent on the bead and after about a week I go down to 20psi. Does evey1's T4R slow down big time when u let off the gas?

definatly. Also there might be a fuel delivery problem that has put the computer in limp mode, which kills the gas milage.
